What's Better for Accurate Rifles? 150% Multishot or 165% More Damage?
Currently debating between using Heavy Caliber or Split Chamber combined with Vigiliante Armnents on my Crit Lanka build (for Eidolons.)

Split chamber

Heavy Caliber has weird interactions with accuracy. I use mine at rank 8 and it feels fine on the Lanka, but who knows if the last two ranks end up making it horrific.

That being said? I'm pretty confident that both heavy cal and split chamber would be much better for the build damage-wise than vigilante armaments; if I was going to drop anything, it'd be vigilante. However, if this is what your question came to, I have to ask: What exactly are your other mods? The usual mandatory set would be serration, point strike, vital sense, and split chamber. Two elemental mods (elec and heat for eidolons) are also almost always going to be there. From there, what might be common would be using... I dunno, with lanka, probably two out of three from heavy cal, vigilante, or speed trigger? Heavy cal probably does more for damage but again, I dunno how accuracy will pan out with a maxed one.

Lanka's been my main gun for years, but I've never really looked that deeply into exact optimization, and my own build is throw off from the norm because of actually having a good riven (multishot, crit damage, fire speed)

Current hypothized build:

Serration, Point Strike, Vital Sense, Vile Acceleration
Stormbringer, Hellfire, Split Chamber, Vigiliante Armneants

My friend tells me that Heavy Caliber maxed doesn't affect the Lanka too much (even though it's a sniper rifle, I still like my precision.)

6/10 [Heavy Caliber] turns most rifles into a long range shotgun

multishot is better for status and stronger than damage on burst weapons

On my Lanka I have

Split Chamber
Stormbrimger
Hellfire
Serration
High Voltage
Thermite rounds
Vigilante Arms
Wildfire

That's hard hitting Rad damage and 150%multishot. So there is a 50/50 chance that your gonna get 3 shots with one bullet.

Thats like 300% more bullet per bullet.

+damage multiplies base damage
+multishot multiplies damage after mods

Multishot will always be better.

Multishot is the best stat in the game because you can never have to much of it. The game is generally about modding as many different but strong multipliers as you can because the more you stack of a single stat the less effective it becomes. With serration Heavy Caliber isn't nearly as valuable where multishot would be a stat you are entirely missing without Split Chamber. This is why two elemental mods are superior to Heavy Caliber most of the time. Usually it boils down to 1-2x mods of each multiplier you can manage... Dmg, multishot, elemental, elemental, critical, faction, etc.

But the idea is to use them both together?
I had one time a mod for Supra that gave increased fire rate, some other fancy stuff but reduced accuracy.

I can tell ya the plasma bolts flew every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ where.

Just to echo everyone else, multishot. Even if it wasn't increasing other stats on paper it would still be better because it increases your bullets per second.
multishot increases the amount of bullets so 150% is double damage with a 50% chance of triple damage
so i would suggest
split chamber + heavy caliber, 90% gives you double damage in most cases, dont bother with armaments and instead go for heavy cal
say you do 5000 damage with all the other mods

2 bullets = 10 000 dmg
3 bullets = 15 000 dmg
1 bullet + heavy cal = 12 500
2 bullets +heavy cal = 25 000

I’d rather still be able to hit things, thanks.

some weapons handle max hc like a champ with the best being opticor, its easy to assume it just has 100% accuracy 24/7, nope i use max hc on it it does deviate....
by so little that it looks more like a visual effect
so no on most weapons you got to use it with a brawler frame like inaros/ nidus/ atlas so that you can get up close where accuracy isnt as important

How much damage does a bullet do when it misses?
