Can't ever seem to find people to play missions with?

I started playing this game at launch but then stopped for a few years, played a bit and stopped again and here i am, but i can't seem to ever find matches with people in them? Is there a way to join random matches your level?

Depending on what region you have set in your options and also some mission nodes are more popular than others, not every one of them might have people playing publically. Also, making sure you set your matchmaking to Public (if it isn't already set).

It is public and i am playing on the european region, but isn't there a way to quickmatch? i don't want to play alone and if i host it takes ages for people to connect

Like i occassionally see a mission with 1 open squad or two but when i try to join it it searches for a couple of seconds and then puts me in my own lobby where i have the option of just joining or waiting for players

Yeah, trying to get through the planets became annoying after Saturn, almost never find groups. Just finally got to sedna myself

it searches for squads for less than a second

puts me into my own lobby

Teams fill up faster than the star map updates. If your just unlocking nodes and junctions, most of them can be done solo. And because they can be done solo, a lot of players do them with solo settings. Once you are done with that and start aiming for the more popular nodes like Void defence, hydron, Gabii, ect. You will find it much easier to find groups.

Matchmaking is weird. But keep in mind the open squads thing is probbaly set from the moment you clicked on the planet and in the seconds you pan your mouse there the squads might be full.

But I find you get more success if you click join and if you dont connect in maybe 2-3 seconds click cancel and try again. Repeat till you get something. I've clicked and waited to the 3 second mark before, cancelled and clicked and instantly connected to a group with 3 other players.

Seems it bases a lot on the moment you click. So more clicks = better luck.

This is the big problem of this question. There is no level matching so you will only get whoever joins the mission, ranging from any MR. This is because MR really doesn't tell much about how strong a player is or how much they will just blow through your mission. A MR 2 person could fairly easily just buy a frame like Ember with platinum, buy a higher tier weapon with platinum, put a catalyst on it, trade platinum for whatever mods they want, and forma it to just slaughter everything in lower level missions. Nor can you base it on playtime since people progress at different speeds.

The only way to do a missions with others and not have people just clear all the content for you is either soloing it, doing runs with friends, or joining a clan that has an active new playerbase.

Good idea, joining a clan with active players might be the solution.
