Region chat is not meant to be "soft" way of getting out of closet, get up and stand for what you want but leave people to their video game they enjoy, no one worked 8 hours and came to enjoy the game to see sexual drama over someone having troubles getting out of closet.
some people have a really bad time grasping this.
nobody has a problem concerning the sexual orientation of a person.
DE is just trying to prevent people offending each other, so in order to keep a clean and respectful game enviroment some words are a reason to get a temp ban for.
In all seriousness, take this discussion to the warframe subreddit.
It's the only place that isn't moderated by DE, which means it's the only place where mods won't lock it out of convenience. It's also the place some of DE's people actually read.
Posting on Steam or the official forums is a waste of time.
Considering chat rules like that signify that what can be perceived as an insult is more important than what actually is one, I choose to perceive that as DE hating gay people.
Therefore all arguments about what those rules are here for is automaticly invalid by their own logic.
DE banned the word "gay" in Region chat cause it often leads to mean words being thrown around. It gets way off-topic.
Definitely wouldn't want any noobs logging onto Warframe for the first time, joining region chat to ask some questions about how to progress in the game, and only seeing drama.
Saying "I'm a gay person" in a public chat is pretty risky to begin with, really.
It's the internet, and there's always going to be someone who'll start drama over that particular topic.
Nah, take it from me. They hate gay people.
Stop acting like this is a unique case, it's not. Most if not all Online/MMO's have strict censorships (all the ones I've played on did), which is why most players never even use them after becoming familiar with the game and joining guilds/clans. Because theres really no need to use it beyond getting help as a new player as there are way better chat/speaking platforms to use out there, that have no censorship rules.
Warframe is not a dating site, there is no purpose for advertising your sexual orientation. If you feel the need to spread the word that your gay, do it on the many other chat options that wont get you banned. Its seriously not a big deal, just that you're making it more complicated than it should be.
More like it's used as a derogitory term/slur ~97% of the time, used to identify oneself as homosexual ~2.5% of the time and finally as its original defenition of happy ~0.5%.
