What's the best way to farm Kavat genetic code?

I did derelict survival like the wiki suggested, but there were just 2 kavats and only 1 gave me the genetic code...

Is there a better way?

I got enough for my three Kavats I needed to breed by running Derelict Exterminate with Equinox. Just putting everything to sleep, looking if theres a Kavat, scanning if it is, then slaughtering everything before running to the next room.
Best you run around with a very good melee and always have the scanner out to see if there happen to be some nearby, while just needing to press e to kill things.

Get vauban or inaros

Go derelict exterminate

Stun lock and scan every kavat you see

The number of kavats scale with the amount of players, so if you can manage to find a full group that will actually let everyone scan the kavats then you should be gaining codes significantly faster.

Use recruting channel to find cavat hunters

Feel free to use the Helicor as well, so you don't have to waste time scanning kavats. If you go solo of course.

Additionally, unless they patched it out, you can use the Simaris Scanner and it's various widgets - particularly the one for double-scanning, which can net you 2 codes for one scan, if yer lucky - to make the process go quicker and generally make your life easier.

It's not patched out because it's not a bug, if you scan a kavat that gives a kavat genetic code and the double-scan procs then you get two codes, easy as that.

You could try to find someone about to do the Inaros quest, there is a part of that quest with like 40 Kavats. Might not be the most reliable way, but it is a thing.

If you haven't done sands of Inaros yet, then the 1st tomb stage in that spawns lots of kavats.

before we got the dna as rewards via alerts too, i got all of mine in the derelict using inaros.
since the damn cats liked to attack the enemies as soon as you got near (if they weren't alone in a room), inaros 1st was a good way to pacify the whole bunch of troublemaker and gave enough time to scan the little buggers.
i advice you to use the simaris scanner with all the gadget in it - especially the one that gives you the chance of getting 2 dna instead of one. also, back then one or both ressoure booster worked on the dna, but i think DE changed that a while back, since i don't get any 3 or 4 rewards from scanning plants either anymore.

Unequip your pet or sentinel weapon mod so they don't kill the kavats as well.

this only works up untill you finish the codex entry. and i dont believe it uses the simaris scanners for that double scan chance.

I was able to scan 10 genetic codes in just a few min. I know, sounds crazy but this is what you do.

If you have yet to do the Inaros quest you are in luck. Make sure you have Limbo. After you do the first part, fill your very first vessel and are told by Boro to go back to the tomb, take Limbo.

After the narrative is finished you will be attacked by a lot of kavats. Cast your bubble then freeze everything and scan to your hearts content. In just a few minutes, I was able to scan 10 genetic codes. The number you actually are able to get might be slightly different for you, but I was able to get 10 exactly.

Make sure you don't bring a pet, or if you bring a sentinel make sure it doesn't have a weapon. You don't want to kill them before you scan them. I didn't bring anything, as it's really super easy to rift all the way to the tomb, so there is really no need. What I did was bring along a melee weapon with no range, so after I scanned each Kavat, I quickly killed them with my melee weapon. You want to do this because there are so many Kavats that it will make it difficult to scan them as they tend to stack up in one place.
