Gas damage is unsustainable for long infestation endless
So gas is great for infested, but in long endless it cannot be used forever. There will come a time where you will have a bunch of toxic and healing ancients, who resist it, and that is still doable, but when they will spawn a caustic eximus they will circle buff each other in such a way that you cannot damage any single one of them with gas whatsoever, necessitating to switch to a different damage type.

What damage type works better for endless infested?

Gas is only good against the trash Infested enemies, which you should not particularly care about building for. Even Blast is a better option, but Corrosive is probably the best since it deals with Ancients.

Corrosive and Blast in that order of important for infested. Good luck, have fun.

My favorite is corrosive/cold which helps a little more against big shields and big armor guys (but not bubble shields / proto).

That said, a slash heavy melee built for gas&slash is a LOT of fun on the trash. The new melee lets you swap, you can can sniper rifle roflstomp the ancients and then go back to cutting a swath.

I don't recall... is it possible to do corrosive and gas on specific element weapons (some weapons with elemental damage innate can do combinations of damage that are not normally possible). ? If so, you could look at that... but most of the element damage weapons are weakish.

Welcome to damage types, they have tiers for some reason.

Some elements work on niche types(Gas and Fire almost interchangable) while others are catch-all(Cold, Corrosive, Radiation) and a couple are just straight up garbo on their own(Impact, Puncture, Electricity) due to whatever palette of enemies you're fighting always having some resistance to common types and near 0 to the top 3. Much balance.

Yeah, weapons with innate Corrosive like the Tysis, Stug, Synapse, Caustacyst, and Scourge ( The Gazal Machete can also get Corrosive damage when paired with a Djinn Sentinel. ) can get Gas modded onto it. The only weapon with innate Gas damage currently is the Zakti.

You will need a bit of radiation with status chance, because those acient auras are too annotying and the thrash mobs quickly flood your way.

Arca plasmor with corrosive, and heat. Innate radiation, corrosive for armor, and the heat CC-s.
Comes with innate punch through for ancients.

Ignis wraith modded for corrosive/radiation, high punch through, high status chance, as soon as that radiation procs on the ancients they quit healing.

Braton Prime with punch through and corrosive, built with 2 dual status mods, and crit/multishot. It shoots through infested, and is VERY cheap.

Soma Prime with punch through, crit/bleed hunter munitions build absolutely eats faces.


Gas is a novelty. Only really useful for corpus shield enhancement sorties... but holy hell is it outstanding for that.

Ah, I see. That's the same that I run for Grineer then. Which is why my comment about boring haha. If it's the same setup for both, then not very interesting :(

The game excels near the "middle" of its difficulty curve. Early on, you have little access to all the things in the game. End game starts coalescing into a few extremely effective builds at the detriment to all others. Mid game allows you to do whatever you want, without punishing you. Fortunately, the game pretty much stops at the middle part, unless you seek the challenge.

You can try bleed builds for variance, it really opens a lot of options, or you can do a sniper build that just muscles through the defenses of enemies.
