can i catch rare fish in eidolon without bait?
like in orb valis?

No, unlike in the Vallis, the older Plains of Eidolon simply will not spawn the higher-tier fish types unless you use the appropriate bait on a fishing hotspot.

I believe I have, but it is exceptionally rare. You might see one a day/night if you don't use bait. Or they might have fixed it since I did that and you won't see them without the bait.

As the bait is now in offerings and does not need to be crafted, it is easy enough to buy some bait and use it.

i still need to rank up which is tedius as fk... i hv no gems or ore :(

Do bounties to get standing, or ask your clan mates if anyone wants to bait share with you

standing isnt the problem, its the resources, i am fine going out and killing stuff but mining ore? for a random metal? or random rare gem? no ty... i mean i will still do it but like archwing missions i will hate it xD

Make sure you get the sunpoint drill from fortuna. It's a piddly 500 standing and outclasses all the ostron mining drills
