Destreza Prime Crits
I have 102.4% crit chance my sword, but I have not seen any orange or red crits and I've done a lot of Infested survival missions to test it. On the wiki page, it says you need at least 100% crit chance for a chance for an orange crit and at least 200% crit chance for a chance for a red crit, yet my Dread has a 125% crit chance and it can do red crits quite often. So, I'm a little confused on how this whole system works.

Regarding your Dread, Do you have a "Vigilante" mod anywhere in your equipment? Each of them adds a 5% chance to 'upgrade' a critical hit your primary weapon lands (Yellow becomes Orange, Orange becomes Red).

Unsure about the sword, but are you using it exclusively for stealth attacks? If so, they will always appear yellow, even if it may have been an orange or red crit.

You need to use the gladiator mods.

Once you get over 100% crit chance, that's when you can get red crits from what I've been told. So is it possible to get orange and red crits with my sword, but since it's only 102% it's just very unlikely?

With nothing else and only the base mods, no special ones like gladiator, KAvat buffs, or warframe abilities, if you have over 100% crit you are always guaranteed a yellow crit and then a certain chance for an orange. This will obviously change based on combo counter or other buffs for a melee weapon but that the base of it.

I think I understand a little more why I'm not getting red crits with my melee. Like the first comment mentioned before about the Vigilante mods, "In addition, each mod of the Vigilante Mod Set has a 5% chance to increase a critical hit's tier by 1. This effect stacks with other Vigilante Mods installed, up to a 30% chance with all six Vigilante Mods equipped." (quote from the wiki) I don't have any sort of mods like that with my melee weapon so that must be the reason I'm not seeing any red crits.

Many people put Blood Rush on their melee weapons to boost crit with combo multiplier. This can be further boosted by having Helios' Deconstructor sentinel weapon equipped with the Gladiator melee mod set.

Check out Blood Rush, and the Gladiator mod set on the wiki for the specific calculations, including changes to how those mods behave since Update 26. They give you crit based on your weapon's base critical chance, before adding other mods that boost crit, like True Steel, or Sacrificial Steel, and Maiming Strike.

I have Sacrificial Steel equipped and the two basic crit mods. I need to get Blood Rush. Should I get body count and Gladiator Rush as well? Those three?
lHobo Nov 20, 2019 @ 2:01pm
Drifting contact is a good alternative to Body Count, giving 10 seconds to combo duration, while also adding 40% status chance and costing only 5 mod capacity. It's also much easier to obtain.

With Blood Rush, and Drifting Contact, you should be able to reach and maintain red crits without needing True/Sacrificial steel, on Destreza Prime, or any other weapon with decent base crit chance. If you have gladiator mods added in addition (preferably on your Helios sentinel's weapon to save mod slots for damage/QoL on your own weapon), you'll need a lower combo to start seeing red crits.

making it easy.

with 100% you are sure to get yellow crits.
After 100% the rest is the probability to get orange crits.
For example with 110% you will get yellow crit for sure and a 10% to get orange crit so you can't get red crit but if you use gladiator mods because they give you a probability to get a +tier on your crit.
If you have 10% bonus with gladiator mods for example, the 10% means you have a 10% your current crit will bet a +tier, so if you have a orange crit and gladiator mod bonus hits you will have a red crit.
If you have 200% you will get orange crits, the rest will be red and so on...

That is not how gladiator mods work.
Gladiator mods give you a set bonus that grants scaling crit chance based on your combo counter. At 12x combo, each part of the set equipped gives 110% crit chance. This crit bonus is additive with blood rush, the steel mods, crit chance on rivens, etc.

So if you have 3 gladiator mods and blood rush, with no other crit chance mods, you'd have +990% crit chance at 12x combo. That would give gram prime, for example, 348.8% crit chance, or guaranteed red crits with 48.8% chance of 2nd tier red crits.

Yes you are right, i confused the gladiator for the vigilante mods.

But hear this, on the wiki page it says that the combo multiplier does not increase normal melee attack damage, it only applies to heavy attacks. So, what's the point on doing this? I rarely use heavy attacks.

Certain Mods add increased stats for Melee depending on the Combo Counter. Good examples would be Blood Rush-increases Crit Chance based on combo counter and Weeping Wounds-increases Status Chance based on the combo counter

Some weapons are better with heavy attacks, others are not so good. A rapier or dagger, using an heavy attack with a 2X combo can kill level 165 eximus in 1 hit.

So, it doesn't increase the damage for normal melee, but increase status or crit stuff for it?
