All I got for basic stuff was from Plague Event, but what people do to farm them is run around a route you can find by googling it and repeat that.
There are audio cues for so many things in the game, I was hoping Cetus Wisps would have one too.
If I find one or two wisps, I head back to town to cash in + refresh the plains map, then go again.
They may be more abundant at night, but they're easier to spot (and you're not distracted by vomvalysts) during the day.
Bring an Archwing, of course. :-)
It's just too easy to get wisps from running cycles around the lakes at night. Loot detector should definitely be working but remember if you're in archwing and high up you won't see them because loot detector mods don't increase the vertical range, just the horizontal range.
Also, in archwing / K-drive mode, your pet is not with you so if you're relying on (Primed) Animal Instinct as your only source of loot detector, you effectively have none in archwing / K-drive.
I highly recommend a duration zephyr or range nova for wisp farming though speed volt can work too.
Zephyr in particular is my favorite because of the mix of map crossing with 1 that you can end early with dive bomb and run speed with 3 augment.
Nove build for range is good too using 3 to go as much as 180 m at a time and an augment that gives move speed after using it but it's more energy dependent than zephyr's 1 and can't be cut short plus the move speed only lasts a short time compared to zephyr's 3.
Basically rather than farming for formas, you bruteforce the grind with platinum, honestly gettin forma is as easy as finding some relics, stack on blueprints and build them while you look for other stuff.
I hate farming cetus wisps and for me it was a bliss when i realized I did not have to do the braindead run .
Have nearly all warframe fully forma'd, bunch of weapons, all sentiniels fully built, built my own dojo my self.... So yeah, I'd say I can manage my forma income, you can trade and get formas, you cannot trade for wisps.
Not to mention, Plague Event is once in a year or so, so let's say 300 days. That is 300 forma built in foundry. Getting 50-100 from Plague Event does not seem like a jackpot, especially considering Sacrifice is now worth about 2 forma's....
I know it is not the best option, but considering I am not enjoying farming them it is a very good option for me. Well was, since now I have excess of quills standing and piles of arcanes and I just do not care, I take what I need.
But it is not all about efficiency, there is something about enjoying the game and part of enjoying the game is not doing things you do not enjoy..
With a resource booster thats from 3-8 wisps a night really, or 2-5 without usually.
You can also get the wisps for Quill rep at Onkko.
Pop in for archwing seems to be fairly far, but is still a radius or a column so if your higher than that radius things wont appear (and for the most part archwing max pop in for objects is larger than the loot radars max)
This means that you're saving yourself at least a full 24 hours of forma crafting time.
Compared to 4 wisps which should be maybe 5 minutes in the plains at night it's pretty obvious which is a better use of plague star resources.
Sure, you can buy sacrifice and wait and then maybe find people to buy them from you for plat and see the price tank so your investment in waiting and merchanting instead of playing is maybe going to pay off.
Even if you disreguard being able to farm 20+ wisps every night phase, you can also buy them from the quills merchant instead.
Forma are definately the main lockout of power progression in warframe right now. 24 hour craft time plus having to farm relic mission to get the blueprints or throwing 60-120 plat at every weapon or frame means every Forma you can get from Plague Star is a big benefit.
With Plaguestar, buying wisps at 4 wisps for the same price as a forma means you could be getting 4-5 formas worth of wisps every single night phase instead of using plague star standing.
Also, Aura Formas were just added to game and every single one of them takes 4 formas. So there was jsut a decent sized increase in the number of formas you might need.
The "I'll make 300ish formas this year so 50-100 more is insignificant" argument is hilarious. A 20-30% increase in "free" gains to the main cost of weapon and frame upgrades is hard to ignore.
Sure, you could get 100-200 sacrifice mods instead. Good luck trying to sell one every day or 2 though. If you want to do that then go ahead, seems like a risky investment to me but still better than buying a few minutes of wisp farming instead.
maybe your range is too low, try stacking multiple loot detection mods. Thief's wit+ loot detector arura + animal instinct.
The radar's range is like a cylinder so try using k-drive to move around instead of archwing. or fly closer to the ground
