How much is too much (rivens)
I've been trying to get myself a Vectis riven lately (or any sniper really) and i ended up luckily rolling a +ms +cc +dmg which makes Vectis prime super consistent that i'm really content with it.

lately i've seen a similar riven (+toxin instead of +dmg and with a -mag size) go for 18k platinum. i'm not trying to throw shade at the seller, I mean if you manage to sell it for that price props to him but lets do some math.

lets just use USD since it's a more universally known currency.
Lets say someone decides to buy plat with the best possible offer which is 4300 plat for 80$ (price in Malaysia).
with the -75% discount it goes down to 20$.

20$ / 4300 x 1000 = 4.5$ / 1kplat (rounded down slightly)
4.5$ x 18 = 81$

Even with the best possible $:Plat ratio you'll end up paying 80$ for a single riven that isn't even that powerful for a weapon that's not optimized for anything in the game.

You would be surprised at just how much plat some people are willing to spend on a riven you could only consider "decent,", especially for a more meta weapon like the Vectis. Would you be likely to sell anything suboptimal for 18K? Unlikely, but not unheard of. It depends on how desperate the buyer is, really. Most would consider MS, CC and DMG to be godtier and I wouldn't be surprised if you could get a huge chunk of plat out of it.

The huge price gouging is why I don't touch rivens outside of what I get through sorties.

The $81 maths works out, if they're spending cash to obtain that plat. If they've been accumulating the currency over time via trades, it's not $81 at all.

(Not saying that 18,000 platinum is a price I'd pay - or even justifying that exhorbitant pricing, because that trader is basically dreaming if they think anyone will fork out that much. Instead, I'm simply reminding you that there are other ways to obtain it that don't necessarily include opening your wallet. ^_^ )

Just because you see people trying to sell Rivens for those prices does not mean they sell. In fact they very frequently do not, unsurprisingly.

"Too much" is a completely personal judgement.

4k is the top anyone should ask for, and only for the best rivens, for the best guns, with the best stats, if you pay more/ask more, youre just dumb/trying to scam some newbie who has a lot of money
Handoiron May 2, 2019 @ 12:07pm
His has 2 of the top 4 beneficials and a decent 3rd beneficial and arguaby the "best" negative for vectis so his beneficials are boosted on top of that.

Yours has 3 of the top 4 beneficials and no negative so your + stats aren't as high as they could be.

Both are nice, his is more niche with the - mag size for people trying to build for charged / primed chanber.

18k plat is way too high either way, but it might just be a shot in the dark hope or a method of making sure his vectis riven is at the top of the price ordering list for people to see it and make realistic offers.

For me, my ideal vectis riven would be crit chance crit damage multishot and negative mag capacity so his is closer than yours. I'm just crazy enough to want to build for my gimpy charged chamber. Maybe someone with Primed chamber and tons of plat might want to get a riven that functions well with it for re-rolling until perfect.

I was offered 12k for my vectis riven within a few minutes of posting it. Felt it was too low to part with, so didn't go for it. Might try to sell it someday if we ever get a decent auction site for it.

Here's the riven: http://prntscr.com/njn5fh

WHAT?

Base price for plat is 15/$1 USD

Normal price for 4300 plat is $200 15 x 200 + <bonus plat 1300>
75% discount it goes down to $50
So following your formula $11.64 x 18 = $209

I just prefer to look at things at 1500 plat = $100 ... keeps it real and me on track with farming what I am missing.. rivens are fun but not really needed for the more popular ones that have the higher prices anyway.

According to DE, players have spent up to 61k on vectis rivens.

Did they post a graph for it like they did with frame usage? Or was it just mentioned on some dev stream or something?

The PC riven trade data for the past week can be found at http://n9e5v4d8.ssl.hwcdn.net/repos/weeklyRivensPC.json

According to this, one rerolled Vectis riven sold as high as 12,000 just last week.

Oh nice, thanks!

Oh and btw his reasoning he's selling that mod is because he first bought it for 16k and reselling for 18k

Rivens should have NEVER existed. They are the worst combination of "loot box + P2W" I've ever seen in a video game.

If mobs stats are calculated to take into account the "<you-name-it> lucky/ideal/godly riven" capabilities (and I bet they are) then all non-riven builds become just "meh". So players are thrown into this merry-go-round, spending unwanted time in all those kuva bs missions, spending unwanted money to buy unwanted platinum to keep up with rolling for the ultimate crap.

In the end we see an entire set of <some warframe> sold for 40plat on warframe.market and a stupid riven sold for 21k plat on riven.market.

This "extravaganza" suits DE in multiple ways. The number of frames is limited and the prices (plat conversion in real money) become a sad joke when facing "the monetary potential" of the rivens. "And baby", the chances for a player to spend "more and more ... and more" real money to get more and more "legit" platinum (to make sure he/she is not suddenly banned for some imaginary illegal transaction) are extremely high. The only winner here is NOT the player.
I kinda agree but I also dont
first of all discount rivens does work maybe not good as a godly riven but the difference cant be picked most of the time so it is not so much big of a deal
but yeah people just fliping scamming its kinda disgusting at this point but prob rivens one of the crucial things making De keep goin
I kinda dont agree rivens p2w either there are many strong guns with the right build they are as effective. rivens more like a flex or luxury but deff not a p2w
and litterally you can find any of your wanted riven in one day for like 200 plat max.
except some sniper rivens ofc
which 200 plat is nothing. its like 1 hour of plat grind
and 20k for a riven? dont even contact with these type of ppl they got no respect they only care about profit they running on trading chat whole day with the hope of selling their stupid overpriced riven(I dont care if someone think its free estate its nothing different than a scam)

Sheer stupidity is what that is. I'm all for letting the market balance trade values on its own, but anybody who would be willing to pay that much for a single Riven mod, let alone one for the Vectis - which isn't even that good anymore thanks to powercreep - is a chump, and honestly deserves to be swindled out of all that Platinum.
