Ambulas?
Feels like something is wrong here. Doing a defense mission on Pluto, should be like level 30 stuff. Every wave I have gotten an Ambulas spawn, the first 4 I was able to take down somehow, the one on wave 5 is level 48 and has like a million health. Using a level 30 boltor prime that crits most enemies for 1500+ damage (mostly corrosive), I used up like 800 rounds on this thing and barely dented it, no more bullets on the map. Playing as Saryn I infected it about 15 minutes ago and managed to get it stuck under some stairs, my infection counter is above 2000 now and it's only ticking for 7 damage, this is going to take a while...

Is this normal? I don't understand why I got such a difficult enemy on wave 5 of what should be an easy defense mission.

Edit: Mission took me 48 minutes, almost 30 minutes for that one boss. *sigh*

Boltor's crit chance sucks so it's bad idea to rely on that imo. What damage type did you have in that mission? If I remember right, Ambulance doesn't take bonus damage from Corrosive but rather radiation and Electric damage.

What warframe were you using? There are some warframes who can cheese it rather well and enemies level go up each wave or should. Somebody correct me on this.

Apart from being heavily armed, its most dangerous feature is the Animo processor, which allows it to learn on its own whenever it is defeated in combat, ensuring that Ambulas proxies cannot be defeated by the same strategy twice.
Pretty easy to understand why it took you so long.

If you are going for high damage and crit I'd suggest you use a Rubico. Properly modded this thing can do over 100k damage on a headshot. That's my current most damaging weapon. Shotguns like Hek and Corinth are also great at damaging.
When I get on my PC I can give you my current unfinished Rubico build. Wrecks lvl 60+ enemies easily. You'll unfortunately have to sacrifice firerate and clip size because Rubico is a sniper rifle.
I know it's still possible to mod SMGs and such for high level enemies but I haven't fiddled with it much.
Enemy health spikes drastically from level 30 to 40 and up, much more than for example from lvl 20 to 30

I'm not going for crit, that was just the number I remembered off-hand to explain where abouts I am in progression. It's by far my best weapon, I'm still fairly new and got it in the recent nyx/rhino prime bundle, so it's far ahead of what I've managed to get on my own at this point. I have pretty much every damage mod I own in the thing, which isn't many of them, so there's not a lot of options there. It's set up for corrosion and blast, I could swap the mods around to get what, magnetic and gas, but the corrosion/blast combo seems really effective against everything else. I'm capable of doing level 30-35 content fairly easily, which was within the levels of that mission, but I'm clearly not prepared for level 48 bosses with apparently adapting defenses that reoccur every wave. I've noticed that enemy is showing up on other Pluto maps as well though, but I can just avoid it.

Edit: To be clear, the mission was "Outer Terminus" on Pluto, a level 30-40 defense mission. My understanding is that means enemies start at level 30 and increase with waves, going up to level 40 at like wave 20 or so. At wave 5 most of the enemies were still 31-32, except this one Ambulas that was level 48, that's what confused me.

I myself use radiation damage on almost everything (electricity plus heat). It has +75% damage to alloy armor and no minuses to any other type. Alloy armor is found on some grineer units and some corpus units as well. Many bosses also use it (Ambulas too if I remember correctly)
Corrosive damage is good for ferrite armor which is used by mainly grineer and some bosses, barely any corpus unit uses it. Blast damage has -25% towards ferrite armor and a +75% towards machinery and if the wiki is right that armor is used only by 4 units in the game. Rollers, latchers, regulators and eidolon lures

It's more the effects I'm using them for though. Corrosive permanently strips all armor by 25% every time it procs, and blast knocks enemies down in a decent AoE. My gun has 34% status chance and a firing rate of 13, anything that doesn't die nearly instantly is knocked to the ground and stripped of their armor, they rarely have a chance to stand back up, except bosses apparently immune to the effects.
