OP wants an auction house
Lecturing on the correct price however is frowed upon and is tied to poor trading conduct.
If someone specifies a price and you don't like it, simply say that you're not interested, if such thing demands to much effort or you can't do it, then my sugestion is to stay clear from trading altogether.
I remember posting a WTB for a Trinity part, iirc was the BP for 20p, I got a few but I took up the first one, told the rest that I got it and closed their chats because the 1st guy told me to invite. I invite him and he doesn't join, I wait, some get stuck in loading screen, I ask him what happened, he tells me he sold it to someone who made a better offer, so of course I'd be back in trade chat with the WTB for the same part I said I got.
@ OP - no, we won't be getting one. Use warframe.market/riven.market. There ya go.

OP, you are aware that Warframe.Market and Riven.Market exist, right?
Trade chat is garbage.
Never had anyone try and scam me, ive never had someone buy some from me for cheap then on sell for higher (granted my prices arent 'cheap' more average so that might be the reason for that). The only thing I encounter on a rare occasion is some rude arse who balls me out on my prices, when all they have to do is say 'sorry to much for me, thanks though'.
An Auction house in WF would tank the plat values of basically everything... enjoy selling 20+ rare (say Rhino) vaulted warframe sets just to get yourself that 75p syandana you want... because that is what an auction house will do to plat value. Seen it happen in every MMO that has one, undercuts get so ridiculous everything of any decent value becomes basicly worthless.
Thats bad form in my opinion from the sellers point, if someone gets the sale you dont back out from it because someone else offered you more.. which i find his timing odd, I think that guy lied to you personally about getting a better offer, he probably went to WFMarket and saw he could get higher and just thought 'ill wait'... which to me is bad form, once a sales agreed on its you sell to that person, and or buy from that person. ie if your a seller check your prices BEFORE selling that way you can be assured the buyers price is decent, and it stops situations like yours from happening.
Yea, I agree that it's just not cool. When I want to sell/buy a Riven or something and I accept an offer, even if someone else comes up with a better one, I go on with what I accepted. Happened yesterday when I wanted to buy a mod, I got it for 55, but I could've just tossed out the "Nah, I'm in your dojo but got offered for 50, so I'll take that". It's just not a cool ethic. I'm all the same for 5 plat.
The most fun ones are the ones like the one I had for Blood Rush a few weeks ago:
guy: "WTB Blood Rush"
me: "Offer for BR?"
guy: "20p"
me: "Sure, you invite or I invite?"
guy: "You invite"
*2 mins later*
me: "So....coming?"
guy: "Nah, someone else sold it for cheaper"
Like, hello, you made the offer. One such guy even told me that if I see a problem with him ditching back on an offer he made means I don't know how a free market works. Was fun to chat with him, but annoying non the less.
I have seen in certain games what an auction house can do, how people can exploit it and how it can destroy the economy in a game and I am not even talking about all the implementation problems...
Auction house?. No thank you.
Rivens are already limited due to issues with having to load unique mods per player so imagine if they had a better alternative to trade chat, auction house, market place (not Maroo), anything. Then they could devote those resources to higher riven limits.
Basically if they modernized the trade system in some way it could have a cascadeing effect to improve other parts of the game.
Garbage in = Garbage out
There are bots that monitor trade chat to make up what prices are "expected". But you yourself have witnessed people flooding chat with basically fake bids to keep prices bumped.
If you develop a system there will always be people trying to take advantage of it.
The only real way is to leave it as it is <minus the 2fa ♥♥♥♥ .. IMHO> and let people set their own prices. People will still be duped by price manipulation but at least you won't be going on AI faith.
What you are saying has some glaring flaws, for instance, the implementation of an AI is absolute garbage, as the prices would need to be set by the developers initially, and with all due respect they are severely out of touch with the game and its economy. If you want the players to control the value of an item you can bet there will be a small but very dedicated group of people who will skew or manipulate the market in their favor. Market manipulation is a real thing, and it's something warframe.market has got deal with on a daily basis.
Seriously, trading while may not be perfect is in a decent place right now (not mentioning 2FA). If someone doesn't meet your standard for trading, just ignore them and move on.
When i want to buy something, warframe market is great, however i have bumped into several sellers that despite being online are never online ingame, were talking about months and sometimes they don't even have the item, they are simply trolling or trying to increase/decrease the value of said item, that's anoying.
Trade chat does have a high probability of gathering players with poor conduct, however, i have been ignoring since an early age, so i have filtered many to the point it's not really an issue, i still get them but not in the proportion as the population increase in warframe, some players have also moved to a pure warframe market condition, so they left trade chat in the dust.
Declining an acepted trade is poor conduct, the trader itself becomes unreliable and untrustworthy, altough it's rare for me to find such a thing.
