Warframe`s Trading and Trading chat are a pain...
***This is just me getting rid of some frustration***
Oh boy...
First of all there are the scammers. For me they are not that big of a problem because I always double check before doing a trade, but their existence in general is a issue. There are the stupid ones that try to change what item they are trading when trading ( for example they switch Adaptation with some other golden mod, ussually a trash mod). Then there are the ones that try to buy stuff like, WAY MORE CHEAPER then the actual price, and they try to sell it with WAY HIGHER PRICE then the normal (or just normal price ofc).
Second of all there are those people who just uses WTB without actually wanting to buy it, they ussually say that they got already the item, but like 2 min later, you see the same guy wanting to buy the same thing that he said he already bought...
Another type of players in trading chat that annoy me are the ones that don`t answear your message. Like, do you want the friking item or not? Say something mf. You think the price is too high? Then try to friking negotiate, THATS HOW TRADING WORKS! What I recommend to do is tell them you are willing to give the thing for free and then go ahead and ignore them yourself, sometimes they keep asking about the item even 10 minutes after that.
Something else that annoys me are the people that get mad when you dont accept the deal. Those are ussually the people that want to buy expensive stuff for like very low prices or overprice stuff they sell. What is there to get mad about? You offered me a price, I offered you a price, and we cannot come to an agreement with eachother, whats there to get mad about?
Because of all this ^^ kinds of people trying to buy stuff or sell stuff becomes very difficult (unless you are okay with selling stuff underpriced or buy stuff overpriced). So difficult that you will need about a week to get like 100p.

DE probably won`t see this but I will still give my Opinion on what should be made.
I think you should something ingame like the warframe.market where people can put stuff they want to sell . You can also add an A.I. that controlls the market values of Items.
**How I think the "player market" is supposed to work**
You select what you want to sell , the A.I. will tell you what price this goes around, you set the price and then click done. When putting an Item to sell, that Item gets taken away from your inventory and stored in the "player market" , and when somebody buys that Item, the item goes to the buyer and the platinum goes to the seller.
The people putting Items in the "player market" can always take them out ofc.
People that want to buy stuff would just simply have to search trough the "player market" for the Item they want to buy"
I don`t know if this is gonna be better then the trading chat. There are a lot of things that could happen, but in my opinion it`s still worth a try.

If you sat and read trough all of this, I thank you very much for the attention.
Also I am sorry for my grammatical mistakes.

What you are saying has some glaring flaws, for instance, the implementation of an AI is absolute garbage, as the prices would need to be set by the developers initially, and with all due respect they are severely out of touch with the game and its economy. If you want the players to control the value of an item you can bet there will be a small but very dedicated group of people who will skew or manipulate the market in their favor. Market manipulation is a real thing, and it's something warframe.market has got deal with on a daily basis.
Seriously, trading while may not be perfect is in a decent place right now (not mentioning 2FA). If someone doesn't meet your standard for trading, just ignore them and move on.

actually, selling higher than average or having a budget inferior to the average isn't bad, it's actually a good thing if it's stated, it's not scaming, it's not offensive.
Lecturing on the correct price however is frowed upon and is tied to poor trading conduct.

If someone specifies a price and you don't like it, simply say that you're not interested, if such thing demands to much effort or you can't do it, then my sugestion is to stay clear from trading altogether.
My biggest complaint is that trading is boring as ♥♥♥♥, all that time spent waiting for buyers i could have spent having fun actually playing the game instead. I wish you could set a price for items so other players can buy from you while you're afk.

Trading chat is a joke, don't even bother.
Hey, I can say that not all who go with "hey, I got one" then 2 mins later are back up at it are trolling, I had that happen for me as well quite a bunch of times.

I remember posting a WTB for a Trinity part, iirc was the BP for 20p, I got a few but I took up the first one, told the rest that I got it and closed their chats because the 1st guy told me to invite. I invite him and he doesn't join, I wait, some get stuck in loading screen, I ask him what happened, he tells me he sold it to someone who made a better offer, so of course I'd be back in trade chat with the WTB for the same part I said I got.

Oh. Thanks for simplifying.
@ OP - no, we won't be getting one. Use warframe.market/riven.market. There ya go.

Thankyou for the abbreviated version.

OP, you are aware that Warframe.Market and Riven.Market exist, right?
Trade chat is garbage.
Its weird... ive NEVER had these issues while trading thousands of plat over the last 4 years.

Never had anyone try and scam me, ive never had someone buy some from me for cheap then on sell for higher (granted my prices arent 'cheap' more average so that might be the reason for that). The only thing I encounter on a rare occasion is some rude arse who balls me out on my prices, when all they have to do is say 'sorry to much for me, thanks though'.

An Auction house in WF would tank the plat values of basically everything... enjoy selling 20+ rare (say Rhino) vaulted warframe sets just to get yourself that 75p syandana you want... because that is what an auction house will do to plat value. Seen it happen in every MMO that has one, undercuts get so ridiculous everything of any decent value becomes basicly worthless.

Thats bad form in my opinion from the sellers point, if someone gets the sale you dont back out from it because someone else offered you more.. which i find his timing odd, I think that guy lied to you personally about getting a better offer, he probably went to WFMarket and saw he could get higher and just thought 'ill wait'... which to me is bad form, once a sales agreed on its you sell to that person, and or buy from that person. ie if your a seller check your prices BEFORE selling that way you can be assured the buyers price is decent, and it stops situations like yours from happening.

Yea, I agree that it's just not cool. When I want to sell/buy a Riven or something and I accept an offer, even if someone else comes up with a better one, I go on with what I accepted. Happened yesterday when I wanted to buy a mod, I got it for 55, but I could've just tossed out the "Nah, I'm in your dojo but got offered for 50, so I'll take that". It's just not a cool ethic. I'm all the same for 5 plat.

The most fun ones are the ones like the one I had for Blood Rush a few weeks ago:
guy: "WTB Blood Rush"
me: "Offer for BR?"
guy: "20p"
me: "Sure, you invite or I invite?"
guy: "You invite"
*2 mins later*
me: "So....coming?"
guy: "Nah, someone else sold it for cheaper"

Like, hello, you made the offer. One such guy even told me that if I see a problem with him ditching back on an offer he made means I don't know how a free market works. Was fun to chat with him, but annoying non the less.

There are scammers in this game (as in any other game where trading is made possible) but for that we have an ignore list and WF market to check the prices as mentioned by others.

I have seen in certain games what an auction house can do, how people can exploit it and how it can destroy the economy in a game and I am not even talking about all the implementation problems...

Auction house?. No thank you.

Trade chat probably leads to ever increasing ignore lists per player, all that means more work for the server to store the data, work out which users to send messages too, send ignore notifications etc.

Rivens are already limited due to issues with having to load unique mods per player so imagine if they had a better alternative to trade chat, auction house, market place (not Maroo), anything. Then they could devote those resources to higher riven limits.

Basically if they modernized the trade system in some way it could have a cascadeing effect to improve other parts of the game.

The main problem with this is something you touched on yourself.

Garbage in = Garbage out

There are bots that monitor trade chat to make up what prices are "expected". But you yourself have witnessed people flooding chat with basically fake bids to keep prices bumped.

If you develop a system there will always be people trying to take advantage of it.

The only real way is to leave it as it is <minus the 2fa ♥♥♥♥ .. IMHO> and let people set their own prices. People will still be duped by price manipulation but at least you won't be going on AI faith.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Even when i use trade chat, i mainly anounce a group of things to trade (at non negotiable prices) and i search for buyers that might be interested in alternative trades, some mods are so common i might aswell trade them for statues or other mods, seriously, 10pl isn't my top priority when trading, i have plat atm, i only do worthwhile trades at this moment, which is why my prime sets are expensive.

When i want to buy something, warframe market is great, however i have bumped into several sellers that despite being online are never online ingame, were talking about months and sometimes they don't even have the item, they are simply trolling or trying to increase/decrease the value of said item, that's anoying.

Trade chat does have a high probability of gathering players with poor conduct, however, i have been ignoring since an early age, so i have filtered many to the point it's not really an issue, i still get them but not in the proportion as the population increase in warframe, some players have also moved to a pure warframe market condition, so they left trade chat in the dust.

Declining an acepted trade is poor conduct, the trader itself becomes unreliable and untrustworthy, altough it's rare for me to find such a thing.

How people are real thinking a privat-3rd-party web-site would be a nice idea is beyond me and are kinda navie, becauze it is an other layer were something can be false/fake/manipulated without DE could do anything about it. This is a closed-economy, none of the items or currencys are used outside of WF , so DE has to be responsible and provide Tools and Data.
