Optimize my install?
It says Speed up mission loading and trim wasted hard drive space (3304 mb) , what is this?

It takes up additional 3304 mb hard drive spaces or frees up hard drive spice on my HD? (I don't care about if loading screens are 10 secs - 1 minute longer/shorter)

When you receive an update it's like receiving a box in the mail, you open it and then extract whatever was delivered. Updates for games do that too.

Optimizing your install, is just throwing away the, now empty, boxes that have accumulated after updates and hotfixes. Further increasing the speed of your loading screen times and making it easier for the game to run.

So clicking 'Yes' on this screen, will free up 3304 mb hard drive space for me?

yes

I might be late
but when I press yes it says that i don't have enough space
which really confused me because you said it will trim off
so what's going on

It probably copies all the none trimmed files so that you don't eventually end up with a horribly fragmented install.

Defragmenting works by moving data blocks around to make the files take up one contiguous chunk of space.
Sometimes this is done repeatedly until all related files are also physically next to each other on the disk to lower loading times.
This can take up a lot of extra space during the process.

If you're using an SSD for the game, this won't help loading times at all, since seek times are not affected by any moving parts.

tl;dr: If game is on an SSD, don't optimize. If game is on a "spinning rust" HDD, optimize.
