Nightwave NEEDS an in-game expiration Timer.

I was chipping away relentlessly at the Intermission nightwave (missing only the "Gild an item" challenge and two "recovered" challenges because they popped up right when I had to go to sleep, and they vanished the next day) and was TWO challenges away from unlocking the final Ephemera. Unfortunately, work was so intensely draining this week that I didn't have the time/energy to sit down and do the 30 Minutes of Kuva, and didn't do the Sortie one because every day I could play there was a Spy mission in the sortie and I have no patience for that anymore.

So I think "no problem, I'll just do it Friday night. I can stay up as late I want finishing this thing off. I should be safe, most Warframe events tend to end when the week ticks over on Sunday and the Weeklies refresh, so even if it's about to end I still have the weekend."

Then I get on on Friday evening and.....Nightwave is over. :(

If I had known it was ending on Friday, I would have pushed myself a little extra this week to get my hands on that final tier of rewards. But since the game didn't tell me, I put it off.

I shouldn't have to scour the internet looking for the actual end time/date, it should be in the game, where the event is taking place.

I'm not going to scream how it's "unfair" that I missed out. But I am going to say that I'm pretty damn salty and that it really sucks. :(

Compromise: When it's the final week of an event, have it show up on the event's specific thing?

So like, you open nightwave and in the upper left corner you see "Final week!", or you look at your orbiter's alert panel and it shows "Plague Star - Ends this week"?

Certainly sounds more fun than "I have time for this event, I'll wait a day or two for when I can responsibly participate without overly stressing myself...OH WAIT, I missed out because I didn't know"

yeah but argument can be made for any other timer in the game, prime access, unvaulting, any event you do or do not care, last hour of foundry thingies.... baro, simaris target rotations, syndicate mission rotations, daily standings reset timers.......

so it is better to have some consistency and leave players responsible for their own actions

Why is it a bad idea to have timers for everything? I'm sure there is a few pixels in the corner to fit in a tiny ticking clock.

There already is an ingame expiration timer for nearly every single thing that has an non daiily / weekly reset. The issue is that the timer in the actual nightwave / cred shop interface doesn't reflect the end time and continues to show the timer till the reset.

It isn't that much to ask to have them update that timer to reflect the end of the event during the last week or even to have a different timer to reflect the end date before the last week once it is finalized.

Unless and until they do change it, you need to check the news panel next to navigation for announcements as to the end of the nightwave cycle that aren't reflected in the nightwave interface.

it's idiotic to have to use a secondary indication that runs counter to the primary indication in the actual interface I know, but it's the only way right now to avoid the issue.

count how many do we need for everything in game, and then see how much would it take to find a proper one.

...Does it at least show up on the Orbiter's news feed? I don't think it does.

At least the Prime access stuff I think shows up on the news, and it's featured prominently in their facebook feed and sometimes their Twitter. Stuff like Nightwave ending or Plague Star ending do not.

Because, honestly, some of us are adults whose adult lives sometimes get overwhelming and we don't have the time or energy to treat the really awesome power-fantasy game we play for fun as if it was a Second Job where we have to stay on top of everything using outside-of-game-sources that aren't easy to find (I had to literally scour the forums to find out whenabout the first Nightwave event would end, for example).

If they don't want to make the information easily viewable in-game, at least make it really easy to find out outside the game. I'd have settled for a post on their facebook going "Hey Tenno, Intermission is ending this Friday! Splurge on those Nightwave credits while you can!", even.

they posted it everywhere, it was also posted WHEN intermission was introduced, we legit had 3-4 weeks to learn when it's ending.

I don't miss anything on my FB feed, I go through every post on it until it sometimes literally no longer loads any posts (doable because I have few friends on it) and I didn't see anything about when it was ending. Hell, I didn't even see a post for when it started. I only knew it started because when I logged in for my weekly Ayatan hunt, I saw Nightwave was back on.

So either something messed up with every single Nightwave related thing they posted on facebook, or some other screwy thing happened. Either way, I saw nothing.

How about the news feed? That's basically unnecessary, as everything can be found on the website, and it even breaks the immersion of the game. They could put every timer there.

I agree. There is nothing wrong with showing when the current nightwave ends when you open the nightwave screen.

why do we need to check on forum post/twitter/etc
to see the date when nightwave will end

i think it would be better to place a timer in game to show how much time left
before the event end, similar to the one that plague star had.

there's no need to put a timer for everything, because everything already has their timer, except for Nightwave, so, DE, we need a timer so we can know when it finishes and, well, when it will going to start for those players who are so lazy, like me, to go to the forum and see the moment when you announce it
