Smeeta's Charm is useful but is so random you may not get what you want or when you need it.
The Mischief skill allows Smeeta to stay alive longer since it can make a decoy and go invis.
Adarza's Cat Eye is more consistent and gives a flat +60% crit chance added to your crit chance. So if you have 50% crit chance, with the Cat Eye buff it will be 110% crit chance. This is weaker then the Smeeta crit buff which gives 200% crit chance(every crit will be orange) but as stated earlier, what buff you can get is random and you may go on a mission without ever getting the buff.
Reflect skill for Adarza is useless in my opinion. 40% chance to reflect damage back at +60% is too low to hurt anything.
I don't like to build the Kavats for combat so in my builds it's mainly for survival and utility.
Here is a list of useful mods you may want to use:
1.Fetch: Vacuum but for pets
2.Animal Instinct: Loot and Enemy Radar
3.Tek Assault: 60% chance to ignore any kind of lethal damage for your Kavat and become immune to all types of damage for 4 sec.
4.Link Armor/Link Health: A % of your Armor and or HP is added to your Pet.
5.Medi-Pet Kit: Gives a small Hp regen for your Pet and gives you more time to revive them when they are downed.
6.Pack Leader: A % of your Melee Damage heals your pet.
Also, to add to your list of useful mods, Sharpened Claws can be good if you aren't running 4 Corrosive Projections. It's not very consistent, but a random chance that whatever you're shooting has zero armor is not bad, in my opinion.
It's a nice mod, what's not so nice about it is that it causes the Kavat to attack. And anything worth stripping armor will badly retaliate. Unless you are Inaros. And if you are Inaros you don't give a darn about armored single targets anyway.
How you build them and use them is up to you. I go for more of a combat orientated build with Fetch, Link Armor, Link Health, Bite, Maul, Pack Leader, Hunter Recovery, then the two Kavat mods. I believe there is a little variation between my two Kavats but I don't remember off the top of my head. With the Link armor and Link Health mods it's honestly very rare that my cats go down. Even if I am running a more squishy frame, if i am doing some high level play I typically run Nidus unless I am messing around and with Nidus linked to the cats, yeah they will be fine.
For general play though I will use my Adarza more, although it varies depending on my mood and goal, I just like the more constant Crit Chance as opposed to dice roll to see what my bonus will be this time. Unless I am trying to farm something specifically in which case I will go with the Smeeta.
Potentially. Charm can set your base crit chance to 200% and it affects certain abilities as well vs +60% additive from Adarza for 50% of the time for your team.
Then again, Charm has like a 1 in 4 chance of getting a buff every half minute... from a roster of six buffs. The odds of you getting guaranteed orange crits for 30s... is about once every 10 minutes.
