What do you guys think about the Ferrox?

I'm talking about damage and you're acting like you can't hit or kill things with the Ferrox. Just because a gun requires you to shoot at something doesn't mean it's useless.

Better damage, better DPS, better scaling with mods... Yup "No reason to use it over Opticor Vandal" :eye_roll: . Not everyone likst to run around with cloudcatch and afk frames.

EDIT: Know which guns requires "pinpoint accuracy"? Most guns in the game, of those most have recoil btw.
It is technically a drawback compared to the Opticor. Ferrox shoots a precise beam with travel time, vs the Opticor's wider beam which is hitscan as far as I can tell. Ultimately it is a stronger weapon than the Opticor Vandal but it takes more aim skill to use, although that is dependent on your own skills

Right it is, but the point was that there is a reasons to using it over the Opticor vandal.

Also it doesn't have travel time. It seems missleading but it is a hitscan weapon.

It's like an Opticor Vandal on a stick, but better crit stats and a tether gimmick that can sometimes be useful.

I recently took a look at it when combing through primary weapons.

It has a very good crit chance and extremely good multiplier, only really out done by Rubico Prime (different class of weapon). As far as performance, I've been looking into it (lightly) but haven't really made any determinations yet.

No reason to use it over Opticor Vandal unless you plan on using its secondary fire and its secondary fire does not scale with multishot or fire rate mods.

Ferrox (on paper) has a higher average DPS (EVEN WITH reloads and charge times taken into account too: it's slower) than the Opticor Vandal.

MAG / (( MAG / ATKSPD ) + RELOAD ) * ((( CRITMULTI - 1 ) * CRITRATE ) + 1 ) * DAMAGE

Ferrox = 10 / (( 10 / 1.25 ) + 1.8 ) * ((( 2.8 -1 ) * 0.32 ) + 1 ) * 350
Ferrox = 562.85 DPS

Opticor Vandal = 8 / (( 8 / 1.1 ) + 1.4 ) * ((( 2.6 - 1 ) * 0.24 ) + 1 ) * 400
Opticor Vandal = 510.65 DPS

Average damage per shot (once again, no mods) is negegible at 551.6 and 553.6 . With crit mods (which would be added if you want either damage per shot or dps) it becomes absolute damage per shot with Ferrox climbing at a higher rate.

This is exactly why it peaked my interest.

Not only does Ferrox have a higher average output, it has a HIGHER damage potential given that it's crits are better. It performs better than the Opticor vandal given damage based setups and even heightens the gap between the 2 with a crit based setup. This is also to say the Ferrox climbs at a higher rate than the Opticor vandal when it comes to rivens too.

Also worth mentioning that the Ferrox has a higher innate punch-through (1.5 to Opticor vandal's 1.0) and the explosion from when the shot can't punch through anymore is 350 IPS to the Opticor vandal's 200 magnetic.

I haven't even mentioned the tactical aspect. I wasn't lieing when I said I've been taking a look at it.

In short if you like a weapon do the math and figure things out rather than ignoring it because some youtuber said it sucked.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that the Opticor vandal can fire at half charge for less damage, where as the Ferrox can't fire at half charge. In my opinion it's hardly worth mentioning but is an advantage if you want a quicker rate of fire in a jam.

Didn't say a word about damage. Ferrox requires pinpoint accuracy while Opticor Vandal fires a wide beam that is hard to miss. It obliterates groups of enemies with ease. You can't kill more than one enemy with Ferrox unless the enemies you're aiming at are perfectly lined up or so low level that they die instantly from throwing it.

I find all staff-looking primaries are underused for what they are. As for Ferox, unlike bows, it automatically shoots at full charge, not when you release a button, making it annoying to aim (especially when moving) - my main problem with it.

Hmm yea it's hitscan

I suppose the ferrox beats opticor vandal in terms of single target dps, but opticor vandal can do more dmg overall to groups of enemies.
