Kuva Weapon required Mastery Rank
Two days ago, I killed my first Lich, getting Kuva Seer. I claimed and used it without any problems, but as it turns out, Kuva Seer is MR 15 weapon and I was only MR 10.

Did I got some strange bug that allowed me to claim weapon with too high MR for me, or is MR requirement just a meaningless number in case of Kuva Weapons?

Yeah, MR locked stuff is just to prevent trading and crafting. But since by killing the kuva lich, you automatically get the weapon this will all be bypassed. Though it is weird they included high MR for the kuva weapons since the only way to even get the weapons is by killing the kuva lich.

The only ways that the game stops you from getting a weapon with a higher MR rank than you have is by keeping you from crafting and/or buying/trading for the weapon. Since the kuva weapons are already built in the foundry when you kill the liches, you can just claim it cause it skipped the crafting part.

Pretty sure there's a few other weapons that can/could be obtained, even if you're a lower MR rank than is required, don't remember which though. They're added to your account without having to buy or craft it. I think it might've been from paid promotions such as from Twitch Prime where you could get a high mr rank Prime weapon added to your account just from having Twitch Prime.

I’m confused now-I have Orthos Prime that I built but the game and wiki both say they’re MR12 and the account is MR8. Is it one of the ones you can bypass the MR requirements?

Did you have the game for a long time? A lot of the weapons have been subject to reworks which changed their MR around. In any case, once you own the weapon, you can use it regardless of MR restriction.

Well at uptade 26.0 its mr was changed from mr2 to mr12 so you probably made it before uptade 26.0

It's mostly for consistency.

After the big re-balance in early 2018, and the more recent Melee re-balance, MR requirements better indicate the relative power of the weapon, regardless of whether the requirements are naturally bypassed (another example being Broken War, Requirement of MR10 even though the quest you get it from's minimum MR is 3).
