Xiphos Prisma Skin changed, and it sucks now
I loved my Xiphos' look with the prisma skin.

However, with this update, it totally changed, and now doesn't look nearly as good.

It's like they took out the prisma look on half the ship, and changed what color layers affect which parts. The worst part is definitely less prisma look though.
Also, as I go into the editor to try and fix it, it feels broken. When I take everything back to default, you can see the prisma effect (although it's far less than it was), but if I try to change the engine color, the prisma effect dissappears... Literally no colors I can choose allow the prisma effect to show up.

Why are they making things look worse?

EDIT:
Just tried to make it look good, and this is the closest I can get. The prisma effect is still incredibly underwhelming compared to before.

It is because, as described in the patch notes, metallic reflections are different. They're no longer so 'perfectly' reflective, so instead of a mirror-like surface it's got an almost 'rougher' appearance.

I did particularly like my VERY chromed Scimitar Prisma skin, but I do not think the new material reflections are hideous by any stretch.

There should be an exception for prisma. Taking away the prisma look ruins the prisma.

That's not only a highly subjective opinion, but I also imagine that the change was applied universally (as most engine changes are) and whether a lighting, a reflection and/or a material change, while it's possible it could be reversed in THAT case, that may not be as simple as it sounds.

I understand your point, but as an artistic change I am simply not opposed to it. The new effects as they stand are very much nicer in my opinion, and i'm willing to see the Prisma be less reflective as a result of them.

As they update things other things tend to get wonky but they will fix it. I have seen it so many times in this game already I don't even worry about it anymore.

If it bothers you that much and you want to make sure they look at it use your screenshots in a bug report and submit it to DE

They work on the build trying to fix crashing issues etc right up to the last second so it really isn't a surprise to see some stuff like this put off until a hotfix.

Also might help if you turn off bloom ... how do you see anything? ha ha

I definitely agree it's subjective, after all it's aesthetics. I don't think it's necessarily applied universally. From what it looks like, the prisma effect is a separate type of application to the meshes. I would think they could just not boost the roughness of the prisma meshes. While subjective, I do think it ruins the prisma effect, because it's supposed to be highly metallic and shiny, and now it's just like a very minor cloud pattern if and only if you don't modify the colors (which is dumb anyways).

The 'Prisma Effects' are still there on the weapons...

lol dear god the lighting. there should be some sort of warning on those screenshots. your graphics settings caused me physical pain in my eyes.

but yes it does suck that your ship looks like its made of plastic now. i also use the prisma xiphos and feel your pain.

I have the same issue. I purposefully went after/bought cosmetics for THAT look, with the sparkling reflective metallic surfaces. I bought skins for that now gone look, spent hours grinding just to get weapons with that look, put so much effort and money in just because it is my favorite look. And now the reflectivity is gone. Here is a pic of my orbiter - The gold used to have a super polished look with a richer color, like metalic paint on a sports car. Now... well... take a look. It doesnt SEEM bad, but only someone who doesnt know HOW NICE this kind of stuff looked pre-update (and how much effort some of it could take to get) would actually believe that. DE, please, please.... fix q.q https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/778481902170158071/0644AD485C1144BA2E7792C026885860D300D995/
