Warframe didn't "lose" 4k players.

Most will continue to play Warframe and pretty much all will fully return when they exhaust the small amount of free content in Destiny 2 and hit the pay-wall for more.

Destiny 2 being "free to play" is just a publicity move because it's not fully free to play like Warframe is.

Notice how it's going "free to play" at the same time as there is a payed expansion release...

This - they released 'free' destiny 2 before. grabbed it played it for a couple hours then went right back to warframe. Bungie started losing its luster ever since they shelved marathon

You can find Warframe frequently popping in and out of the 10 most played games on Steam. It's been "big" for about the last two years, cult-like allegiance or not. To answer your question, the last time the game had over 100,000 concurrent players (on Steam alone, this doesn't even factor in those who use the standalone client) was July 1st of this year, not to mention the 96k peak it had in late August.

Currently 10th most played on Steam, with just under 30k concurrent players. Sure, only 15% of what D2's at right now, but you can chalk plenty of that to day-one rush.

Don't care to comment. Warframe is good. Destiny 2 is okay (from what I've heard). Sinn Exit can go choke on a whaledong.

I actually paused my download for Destiny 2 just to play Warframe. And I played the ♥♥♥♥ out of the original Destiny. Destiny to me is merely something to pass the time as I build my weapons and specters. Once I play the main story and get all the best gear Warframe will become my main game again. That being said, while I play Destiny 2, I'm not going to put down Warframe.

And it will lose more. Veterans are leaving WF, new players will prefer D2, since it has better new player experience, looks better, and you don't have to keep wiki open at all times to make sense of mechanics.

Have you played this new, free version? Coz no, as a first time D2 player, the new player experience is horrible. They cut away the entire campaign mode and just drops you straight into endgame. Here's all abilities unlocked, here's power lvl 750, here's all mission types, raids, whatever. There's no character progression, no slow increase in power, no unlocking new game modes and abilities one at a time to introduce you to the mechanics and your chosen class.

It's like someone who has already completed all the released content got tired of playing and just gave me their account, and here I am with everything unlocked and no idea what to do with any of it, and worse, no sense of having earned any of it.

Of course this is fine for veterans who probably want to get to endgame as quickly as possible. But for a new player, that is just a terrible design choice.

What are your settings at that you can’t get gold things to look gold in Warframe? My golden frames all still look gold after the lighting “update”. You sure it’s not your monitor or tv or whatever you’re hooked up to? Or the settings you’ve selected in the game’s options?

Again-are you sure it’s not your settings? “My monitor is fine.” Sounds like something someone who tried nothing new would reply with and follow it up with “others say it happens to them too.”

Which I understand-others have experienced it too-I’m on this forum every day and I saw the post when they changed the lighting and it seemed to bug out for people. Why are my visuals fine but yours aren’t?

There was no drop. A “drop” of 4000 players would mean the game had to drop below 20K active players on Steam-and that never happened today. Thru the regular course of a day, Warframe fluctuates almost 15,000 people because the world is a big place and different people are in different times zones doing different things each day.

I check Warframe’s player numbers and this forum daily and already reported this troll thread. Pretty sure OP was just trying to start a flame war
