how do I channel my melee weapons?

So I try to use channel while i have my melee weapon out. and i just end up shooting my gun.. how to I access channeling now? so I can use lifestrike again..

Middle Mouse Button toggles channeling now. No need to hold it.

Press E to equip the melee, then press the mouse wheel to activate channelling. To deactivate, press mouse wheel again.

Edit: And channelling only uses energy now when you're actually striking with melee, not passively.

I don't think channeling has ever drained energy passively.

I don't think channeling has ever drained energy passively.

Can confirm It never drained Energy passively unless you use a Exalted Weapon in which case it the Exalted Weapon that drain energy.
