Also your 4 will spread spores, but it's more situational, as it tends to just kill everything when you may want to leave some survivors to spread to new enemies.
* Spores will spread when hit or if you cast 3 and then use a weapon on the enemy. Using 3 lets you not only spread the spores easier, but also adds extra toxin damage. 4 nukes the area around you, spreads viral damage, and hopefully kills what is causing you problems.
*Depending on how far you are into the game, there are weapons that can help spread spores since they give you a wider AOE damage box, Namely the Ignis and it's wraith variation. Flamethrower + 3 + 1 + large group of enemies = that's a lot of spores.
* Decay occurs when all the infected targets have died. If you are able, keep tabs on how many infected are left and try to keep at least two infected. If it looks like the numbers are dropping fast and you can find another group of enemies, cast 1 and then continue the spread.
You will have an easy time keeping the spread going at higher levels and when there is an Ancient around since they tend to have higher amounts of health than all the others. But once they pop, everything infected will die quick.
*If you are playing in a group with a Trinity, see if they can cast their skills on a higher health target and then cast Spore on it. Even if the spores are popped off of it, it will be a "spore damage bank" as long as it lives. I don't know if DE changed the mechanics of it yet, but if you get the right group build, your spore damage will hit in the 10's of thousands and keep going so long as the Well of Life target doesn't kill over.
It may make higher level survivals and other missions boring after a while, but at least your team won't have to worry too much about being swarmed by bullet sponge enemies.
What I do is cast 1, shoot it in the face and kill it, then use 4. Epidemic spreads, or there is a Saryn most likely with a worse configuration ruining my efficiency.
