Those weapons are not that great. Very good for beginners. Slam attacaks can set enemies on fire in big AoE and they're better than Skana

Neither
Different mods can make different “status’” on your weapon. Let’s say you put fire in there. Now you have a fire status. All your attacks do fire damage now. Different types of status damage is strong against some enemies but weaker against others. For example, I think fire is strong against infested, so you would do extra damage to them. If it’s not strong or weak to them it just does the damage stated while modding next to fire (I think.)
Then there is status PROCS, these are effected by status chance. Each status effect has different procs, cold slows down enemies, while fire stuns them and does a certain amount of fire damage over a period of seconds. The higher your status chance the higher chance for the specific status effect to proc.
Also you can mix elemental mods to get different status’
(For example, if you put a fire mod and a cold mod on something, it turns into a blast status. Which does have a status effect of its own)
