Yes, it's possible. Anything that helps you fight enemies in the game are not behind "paywall" or what term people use.
Cosmetics are different story. You have to trade platinum with players if you want cosmetics (luckily helmets drop from alerts)

I heard it is more Pay 2 Skip. But you can still get Platinum with trading things you found and with that you can get everything you want. Is that correct ?

There are things in the game that you were only able to get with real money - not many, but it's true.

You can obtain most everything you need by selling items for plat and using that - hence, not using your own money.

All gear and cosmetics can be purchased with Platinum that you can aquire through trade (Selling Prime weapons & frames you obtain from void fissures)
with the exception of TennoGen cosmetics and certain Prime Access only cosmetics.

@OP Except some very limited things you can get everything for free. By either farming it or getting premium currency from other players. I have spent about 5$ on this game but owned or used around 150$ worth of (non discounted) platinum.

Which is against the ToS and bought accounts are suspended. There is also good chance that your money will be scammed, account is fake and it is idiotic to even buy Warframe account for Founder stuff. It's like paying 50€ for CSGO knife.

With the exception of founders stuff, most (if not all) prime accessories, and a majority of TennoGen stuff (most of these being cosmetic anyways and no way give you any real advantages in the game) then yes you can pretty much get everything. Although buying normal Warframes is usually frowned upon because you can just farm for those ingame. Most of the stuff you see ingame can be farmed through various means or bought from certain places like clan labs for credits or from the Market from blueprints for credits or even traded with between players (though only certain things can be traded).

You can eventually start selling things when you reach mastery rank 2 to start earning platinum for yourself, but getting some stuff to sell to others and knowing what to sell is a different story entirely. That is something you'll have to figure out on your own.
