Polarizing adds a polarity to a mod slot, resets the level of the item in question (meaning you have to level it back up to level 30), but allows for a massive net gain in usefulness from that item.
-orokin reactor (doubles the amount of upgrade points so you can have 60 points)
-forma (this one doesn't increase your upgrade point capacity, but it makes mods cost twice as cheap if you add them to a certain slot)
Polarising means that any mod of the same polarity (the symbol top right) will have its drain cost halved.
For example at rank 30 every warframe/weapon etc has 30 available mod points (without a reactor or catalyst installed which doubles this to 60).
A staple rifle mod is serration, which is a v polarity has a max drain of 14, leaving you with only 16 for any other mods, if you use a forma to add a v polarity to one mod slot that serration now only cost 7. Hence more available for other mods.
2. To enhance it further you can "polarise" a slot using Forma. Mots with matching polarity to the slot will only use half as much capacity.
3. Furthermore, later in the game you has supercharge any warframe or weapon with Orokin Catalysts/Reactors, which basically doubles their mod capacity (making a lvl 30 have 60 capacity).
so lets do shorten it up:
a) you can only forma something when it's mastered (lvl30) AND has a potato in it (reactor/catalyst)
b) using the forma will add/change the polarity of the slot it was used on.
c) putting a mod into a slot with the same polarity, will only take half of its capacity (rounded up on uneven cap-costs - e.g. a mod of 15 cap will then only cost 8, and so does one with 16) - therefore you will be able to fit in more mods altogether.
d) the weapon/frame/sentinel/pet will be put back to level 0 after the use of a forma - it WON'T gives you any more mastery when leveled up again.
Though you should probably put one on first anyhow if you care about the weapon enough to forma it.
