Is there any point to having the different fishing spears?

Because my first impression is that there isn't any real difference between them. I currently have the Lanzo and Tulok spears thus far.

I suppose later on, fishes that can only go out via bait has some certain resistance and that first tier spear are no longer that usable when you go for such fish.

Well, I've speared a few fish so far that I didn't pull in so I either have the wrong spear equipped or they take the spear type I don't have

They're for different types of fish, as described by their item description.

Yeah, so I discovered. Speared a few fish and didn't pull them in. I know I hit them because the damage counter popped up but it read 0.

Only need the strongest spear. No need for weaker spear to get weaker fish.

Yes, from my experience, using the second tier spear, I have no problem catching fish so far in the daytime. Yet to try the one on night.

That better be the way. Sure we got 12 gear slots now, but ain't nobody got time to use up 3 slots for fishing spears.

eh, 3 slots isn't that much
