in the end it's the same procedure as with the "normal" version: you can only damage him when the collar is off - meaning when he throw it at someone - and if you solo this gig, it will be you - so watch what he's doing and keep clearing the room from other buggers.
if with a team, one should keep the horde busy while the other deal with m-alad-v - they should keep an eye out on who gets controlled (which shouldn't happen if they had watched mav all the time and have better reflexes than a rock).
i really hate doing this run with people who never even fought the normal mav before and then think they can do so in the sortie - same goes for lephantis too. only people who beat a certain boss already should be allowed to do the boss-sortie imo.
it's mostly one or the other (even one noob can down the whole team this way - just like with radiation conditions and the old ash ^^)
when solo he only has a 1 way of damgeing him whenever he pops his attack when he has that bubble thing around him.
It didn't look like he actually tried to throw the collar at the specter but it did prompt him to take it off to deploy an orange waist-high fence around himself?? I'm really not familiar with most of what the boss does.
