Stalker and death marks
Has the stalker been changed in the past few months? He's coming after me multiple times (and being killed multiple times) without me doing any extra assassination missions, for example, I killed him in two consecutive dark sector defenses, not doing any other mission between them

Have you played solo or with a group (having Stalker's mark)? The latter increases the overal chance of Stalker appearing, but other than that I don't know of any changes.

he is specifically targetting me, not the other members of the group, when I last played he attacked once and that removed the marks he had on you, that was that and he didn't appear again until after you did an assassination

No change there. Unlike the other two, Stalker's death marks stack infinitely. I don't think I've ever NOT been death marked by Stalker because of this.

Must've been gone a while, last time I played it stacked to three and they all went when he attacked, he's been a nuisance for quite a while and it's put me off doing assassination missions, simply because I don't want to have to deal with him all the time

It's random, Stalker spawned like 5 times in row in solo missions, other times with full 4p never spawned. f i'm right, the spawn rate is 1,5% and 0,5%+ for every player

Not infinitely, more like the total number of bosses in the game that can give you a death mark. I believe it's 16. (6 grineer, 6 corpus, 4 infested).

Once you get a mark and a Stalker email for killing one specific "boss X", you can keep killing "boss X" for as much as you like, it will not stack extra marks. This one-and-only mark will remain there until Stalker attacks you saying "You will pay for killing Boss X". Always pay attention to which boss he refers when he speaks.

After the battle, whether you lost or won, the mark for Boss X is gone. If you also have other marks from boss Z and others, you won't notice it in your profile. The game will not show you distinctive Stalker death marks for each boss, just one universal mark.

If you kill Boss X again after this, you will get another Stalker mail and the mark for boss X will be added back on the stack.

Killing Hek and Jordas in Trials also give a Death Mark. So do Sortie Assassination. Which is why it's difficult to totally get rid of all of Stalker's death marks if we keep re-killing bosses.

To truly have no Stalker death mark, he would need to attack you 16 times total after you have killed all the bosses and never re-killed one again after removing their specific Stalker mark.

I save and keep track of all Stalker's emails, that's how I can tell how many marks I have stacked. When one mark is removed, I delete the mail of the boss he refered to before the battle. By doing this, you will also notice he targets you based on the order you killed the bosses, from the most recent to the first. (he seldom gets them out of order but that rarely happens)

*snip*

I'm sure I had him attack me twice for Alad V (not mutalist, normal, both times) without me killing him again

There's a bug where you can get permanently marked if you do the ceres assassination, but its very rare though and idk if they fixed it

I can confirm that as of writing this reply, this bug is not fixed; I was not marked at all, did the Ceres assassination, got marked, and since then I've been attacked and killed by the Stalker 3 times and am still marked, despite not having done a single boss since.

Oh neat. Infinite stalker farming..... I wish/hope I'm marked like that. Stalker is free drops for the group.

If memory and Wiki knowledge serve me right, you'll know if the Ceres bug triggered because Stalker's text doesn't give the boss's name, just a file path with the game's folders to whichever boss it was supposed to be.

The Wiki did say that the bug was actually fixed, but given I've only done that mission twice (once when it was still on Phobos and again recently on Ceres), I'm not exactly the best person to be speaking to for it.
