am I the only one who thinks this mod is stupidly overrated

Not really, it's a decent mod for whoever that uses dual swords, whips, tonfas, polearms and such. Combined with acolyte crit mods it turns any weapons into a sliding lawnmower. It is however overpriced tho.

For its price yes but its kinda worth it. +90% crit chance is essentially a free crit modifier lvl mixed with a melee with 3x crit multiplier. Without any other mod. That's essentially a free 3x more damage. With say organ shatter that's another 5.7x more damage. No other melee mod in the game adds that much more damage as a single mod. Primed pressure point (PPP) which is essentially in every melee build only adds 165% at max rank. So unless the wep had less then 1.8x crit multiplier maiming already gives more damage then a maxxed PPP

Maiming strike might be expensive, indeed. But this mod makes any melee, literally any, an end game weapon, with a right usage of course (you have to slide all the way around the map :) ) while Argon scope, primed chamber and some other overprised and rare mods, requre a special weapon for it, maiming strike is best of them all.

Just wait for the acolytes to ccome again and you will see a huge price drop.

As for those who say it's price is ok, i recently see the mod at 1k+, so it's overpriced a f. If it was around 4-500 then yes, it would had been ok, but not over a thousand

i guess you are.
i do find the constant sliding a bit silly, but the result, getting red-criticals after 5 melee hits with a weapon that has a base of 5% normally, speaks with a clear language.

it's also a good mod but the difference is that it only makes crit weapons better while maiming quite literally makes most melee sortie viable.

maiming strike is probably one of the strongest mods in the game... paired with blood rush and body count/drifting contact it allows weapons to do over 100k per hit on redcrit slides... the only reason the price is so high is 1. its a good mod 2. only the acolytes drop it 3. they havent been around for months so the supply of up for trade maiming strikes are low.... if you want to talk overrated though argon scope fits in that category its really good on a handful of weapons and just meh on most other things.... especially with riven mods out now if you get wone that in creass crit chance you can get the same effect permanently....

Unless the weapon has larger than normal range (Orthos Prime, Secura Lecta, Telos Boltace etc) Maiming strike is kinda pointless, and your better servered using Body Count and Blood Rush (especially since those can kick you into the red crit range pretty quickly on crit melee weapons)... you'd never use Maiming Strike on say a fist weapon, or any of the other weapons given how small their overall slide attack range is.

Sure it makes any weapon a crit weapon, outside of a macro doing constant slide attacks will drive you clinically insane and give you RSI... Personally i only use it on a select number of melee who you would be doing that sort of thing already, ie Orthos P and Telos Boltace, secura lecta is kinda up in the air and doesnt really need it in leu of say another damage mod.

I use maiming strike on the hirudo it gives you a one hit kill on anythign directly in front of you... if you are building crit there is no reason not to do maiming strike it gives such a massive boost to crit chance its insane.... it allows you to enter insane red crit ranges like 4x red crits letting you 1 shot super high level bombards...

I really like Relentless Combination. While it may not be as strong as maiming strike, it's a pretty reasonable replacement on slash based, high status chance weapons like atterax or telos boltace.

It's a fun mod, and don't forget the Destreza. Even tho it's a puncture weapon, the E button mash combo from Vulpine Mask has a guaranteed slash proc on it's first double strike.

But there are people who dislike melee in general. The only things I care about melee weapon are attack speed and range since their main (and in many missions only) utility for me is breaking containers.
Personally I would never pay more than 50p for the maiming strike effect.

Here's a fun thing though: Blood rush actually multiplies the crit chance from Maiming Strike, and despite only having a font color for "double" crits, there's not actually any cap to the system. You can keep critting as high of a multiplier as your insane crit chance allows.

...Though, frankly, it's probably overkill for most weapons that can make use of it!
