Formad it a bunch of times so I could fit a damage/status build with the riven.
It's still not very good. Took 55 headshots to kill a 140 corrupted bombard with a corrosive/fire status build. For a weapon with an 8 round magazine and 2.8 second reload, that's pretty bad.
Conclusion: Seer is a trash weapon.
Don't listen to the guys above, they only care about min-maxing, but for the lower levels, it's a really good weapon. Try again, get the receiver, build it and have fun.
It's a game, so have fun, that's what matters.
Don't worry.
When I farmed Trinity, those bosses also drop 5 weapons parts for the Mitter and a Twin Gremlins BP. Well, I got almost 2 complete Mitters and missed only the bp for the 3rd, before I got the last part of Trinity :D so just keep at it, you will get it
Sure, the Seer can kill level 100 enemies (sortie and Kuva flood levels, so the highest levels 99% of players are going to see during regular play) with 6-7 forma and a godly riven, as long as they are not too heavily armoured (so grineer and void are out)
Does that make it into a good weapon? I don't think so, and I'm not going to suggest to a new player that they invest time and effort into the weapon. It has 0% crit chance, travel time, long reload, low to moderate status and small magazine size. Sure it has pretty high base damage, but it really doesn't scale well.
Compare it to something like the Hek, which will easily carry you through the entire starchart and beyond, especially with Scattered Justice, and is available at MR4. At MR0 you can use the Attica and the Zhuge, both status AND crit viable primaries
For secondaries, you can use Lex prime, Akmagnus, Akvasto, Akzani, Aklex, all which I would argue are better than Seer, because they can actually scale well.
Already at MR2 you can get the Sonicor, one of the strongest weapons in the game.
If the question is "Is the seer a really good weapon", my answer is always going to be no.
Firstly, you can put on a physical damage mod to cause it to proc a favourable effect, for instance, putting a slash mod on makes them cause slash procs, an impact mod will cause it to have the impact effect, and so on. Whatever physical damage is highest is what will proc when you shoot at enemies with it, so you can adjust the weapons output to suit the enemy you're fighting against.
Secondly, they work very well in sorties against enemies with Elemental Enhancement, as they have a reasonably strong physical damage output without needing elemental mods, bypassing the resistances those enemies have.
Thirdly, and perhaps the coolest of all, is that Sentients and Shadow Stalker cannot adapt to the damage of the Seer or Twin Gremlins so long as all their physical damage is equal, because their is no 'primary' damage to adapt to, allowing you to do maximum damage to them at all times without them countering it.
The Seer is certainly not a strong weapon by any means, especially when compared to other secondaries like Euphona Prime, Pandero, Akstiletto Prime and so on, it simply cannot compare to them even when fully forma'd and modded to it's maximum, but it does still have it's niche advantages when used in the right situation.
If you're already at a high MR and are just looking for an underused weapon to have fun with, it's worth making and playing around with it, but if you're still fairly new to the game and are looking to progress, it's probably best to build it, level it to 30 for Mastery Rank XP then sell it to make room for stronger weapons to aid you in reaching more difficult planets and beating the tougher bosses.
It's most likely never going to be removed from the game, so once you've reached the same point other players have where they have everything unlocked and are just looking for something to do, you can always rebuild it and play around with it if you found it fun when levelling it the first time around.
And now that you've reminded me, I remember a few months back I built it with the intention of playing around with it and had completely forgotten, so I'm gonna go do that now.
Konachibi, you've made me re-think about getting it, though whether I can get Vor to drop that dam receiver remains to be seen.
axelmonster, I've already selected the Zhuge as a good looking weapon, bought the blueprint but until I can get those Nano Spores, I can't build it.
