Please explain price discrepancy! ($15 in Russia, $55 in Europe)

UK: 30 Pounds ($50)
EU: 40 Euros ($55)
RU: 500py6 ($15)
Brazil: R$70 ($30)

There you go. Price in Euro is 3.67 times (almost 4 times) as much as in Russian Rubles.

Я согласен платить за игры 50-60 баксов, если зарплаты в России будут равны зарплатам в Европе и США. А сейчас они меньше в 20 раз, и выше явно не будут.

а в рф сейчас налоги больше. 22% пф+8% страхование (омс и не только), 13% подоходный. А еще в магазине ты когда покупаешь что-то, то в цене товара заложен 18% ндс. Кстати, цены у нас на еду и одежду не сильно ниже, чем в штатах и ес, при том что качество зачастую у нас очень страдает. Реальные доходы подавляющего большинства населения очень низкие. В европе тоже не сахар, там другие проблемы, но если ты квалифицированный работник и получаешь зарплату, а не сидишь на пособии, то в европе денег иметь будешь хорошо, а тут будешь иметь шиш.

That said, a lot of nonsense has been spilled in this one.

Games are luxury goods? Yes of course, so you got to pay VAT for these, now do yor research and chech the average VAT in EU countries (from 8% to 25%).
Now 1$ = 0,74€ > 40$*0,74 = 29,6€ Now only thing left to do is add the VAT, do the math for your own country, I live in Italy so 22% > 29,6€*1,22 = 36,11€.

Where does the extra 10% comes from?

This has nothing to do with the price of the game, a developer can choose the price he prefers for a game and a player will decide if to buy it or not, but sayin g that EU price is 40€ due to taxes... is a lie ;)

Because the publisher deleted the previous ones, they have simply put stated that they wont listen to us by doing so. I wouldnt give them 1€ even.

Your economy is not our economy. You don't pay $54 for the game - you pay 40€. Please don't pretend otherwise. Your governments in Europe are the one who created the whole economic Titanic that is the Eurozone, not Steam. Not anyone else. If people don't want to be in the Eurozone then they are doing a poor job of communicating it to their leaders, because unless it collapses, it is going to be there for a good long while.

Still. The price in other currencies is irrelevant, what IS relevant is that the game is priced in fair value for your local currency, and fair value is weighted against the overall worth of your currency, how much of it the average person reasonably makes in a month and can spend on luxuries above the need for survival, and so on and so forth. You are not paying $54 for a game. You are paying 40€.

Once again, the average persons idea of "fair pricing" is not fair at all. Would you be complaining if tomorrow you woke up and the dollar was worth half as much as the Euro? Then you'd be paying a mere $27 while I am wondering if even $50 is still gonna buy me enough food for the next week and cursing you for getting games so "cheap".


Seriously people. Some of you need a basic education in economics if you cannot understand the basic principles at work here.

And you need basic education about Europe... seriously. You should ask greeks, spanish or italians, for example, how titanic or powerful is their economy right now. We are trying to change things over here, but it's being almost impossible, you know?

Anyway... this isn't about paying more or less for a game. This is as simple as if the game developers have decided that their game is worth 40$, then THAT is the price, not 54$ nor 15$. 40$, it's simple. It's their task to convert properly that price for everyone.

Most people here aren't complaining about paying one or two more euros, they're complaining about the inexistent conversion, VAT applying and so on. We only want to pay it's fair price, that's all.
