Luculla Forest frustrates me
This is a /rant because I did something very, very wrong and can't fix it - now I'm screwed.

I "finished" Cyseal at lvl10, did all quests that I could find, then headed to Luculla. Things go, then I'm suddenly confronted by a band of lvl 12 Orcs - needless to say, instant defeat. I keep messing around, end up on a desert with lvl 14 Spiders - dead.

After many attempts I crossed the desert, reached the Immaculate Trial cave. Completed it, had to kill the priest (forgot his name) and his crew of lvl 12 - all at 10. After countless attempts I managed to do it, and dinged 11! hurray.

Now, I'm again stuck. I managed to sneak past the Orc Leader and her crew (lvl 12), now I have to find a way to either go past the goblin village or the lvl 14 spiders. Seriously, how can the difficult get so steep from one map to another?? Have I left Cyseal too early? I have done most of the quests available, some I can't find a way to finish at all (and at this point I doubt they'll give me any considerable experience).

Can someone offer me some insight on how should I approach things from here on? So far, my progress has been 1) kill Immaculate priest 2) reach Sacred Stone 3) wipe the prison 4) Kill Geomancer in Sacred Stone. I can't do anything else. I'm starting to consider restarting the game on an easier difficulty...

You skipped the White Witch's cabin.

And you don't need to restart to change the difficulty.

You need to complete the White Witch quest. It'll take you through a whole slew of level 10 and 11 baddies. Before spitting you out to face down the level 14's. You should be level 13 reaching 14 at that point. But the monsters are still a challenge.
I find myself going back to a lot of fights, it took me a few days to get past the elite orcs. Get oil and fire to help with that, you can try to charm one of the spiders; before burning the lot of them.

I just killed the lv 12 orc group with my level 10 party:
Ranger (5) / Scoundral (1)
Fight (5)
Hydro (5) / Aero (2)
Aero (5) / Witch (3)

I did it twice. The first time I lost 3 people over the course of the fight. I thought I was up against the mini boss and her buddy. Boy was I surprised when her buddies showed up!

The Ranger died at the beginning and I hobbled through the fight with A LOT of CC, summons and healing!

The second time through I used the Ranger/Scoundral to even the odds with Charm Arrows and Charming Touch. I did a split pull at the start with the Ranger on one side and the three others on the far side of the camp. They killed the orc in the rear and CCed anyone who got to rambunctious while the Ranger lead the other on a merry chase. When they got to close he vanished and ran back to the others to join in the killing.

I used the tactics I learned the first time to control the fight. One of the things I discovered was that the wall of ice is not the greatest while it's a wall but when it breaks apart it is a much bigger sheet of ice. Anyone trying to cross it runs the risk of falling down and getting range killed by my mages.

Short version, control the fight, don't let them or you'll die.

Hope this helps.

Hey all, thanks a lot for the tips!
So far my party consists of Ranger, a 2-handed knight with Leardership 5, Jahran with all 4 schools of magic as CC/damage/support and my main as a battlemage. The battlemage gets melted quickly and none of the CCs (frozen, petrify, weak, stun) touch seem to work. I am sad.

As a side note, yes I completely skipped the White Witch because I can't find a way to enter the bubble! As soon as I arrived I ignored the advices from the Immaculate guarding her cabin, after that he disappeared and left me with some Air elementals to kill. The funghi (thanks pet pal) told me to look for a spell around the barrels in Luculla - I've searched everywhere and haven't found it yet.

I believe I'll search for a walkthrough on the White Witch quests, that or proceed to re-hunt this fabled spell in a barrel

Spell Location:

The bubble spell is located up on a trapped ridge, gas cloud, fire balls, mines, suprise death if you get thirsty! There is a toxic barrel and a chest up there also. It overlooks one of the roads into town.
