GOTY for the fans - hardly as much for the modern "gamer" (you know what I mean if you see the this-game-is-too-hard-on-easy whiner threads).

Well , for the fans ofc it is GotY :P , but if GotY comes to the game with most fans this one already lost.

Personally i think this year had plenty of great games , i just finished playing wastelands 2 , which i found to be also quite great.

Favorite rpg since NWN. But I am sure IGN and SJW Kotaku will give dragon age 3 the goty.

Dark Souls II wasn't AAA, they are still a low budget title, the game is excellent despite a very divided fan base between Demon, Dark I and Dark II. Just for kicks, Dark Souls I has budget of roughly 6-10m, Dark Souls II has around twice as much. Divinity: Original Sin has a budget of around 12m. DA:I marketing budget alone is easily all of those game total budgets together.
