Big mistake. Skimming Divinity.
This isn't Omerta: City of Gangsters or XCOM.
You can't skim Divinity. No matter how short your attention span is, no matter what game you pre-ordered and can't wait to play next. You need to be thorough in your exploration, questing and reading.
I googled divinity inert stones, clicked second link, found this:

You need WAY more than three. you need to unlock more portals at the end of time. The only portal that should not be unlocked in the forbidden zone, everything else should be unlocked, including all elemental portals. If you've found enough star stones, which it sounds like you have, search in this forum for how exactly to make the rest unlock.
I dont recall everything, but a short list would be:
Make sure homestead isn't under attack from meteors.
Make sure the imp doesn't have a special dialog queued for you (talk to him)
Make sure he's idling around and not waiting by a platform.
Go into the last portal opened, talk to everyone inside, and exit by the same entrance, then talk to the imp.
make sure the loom weaver doesn't have any discussions for you.
Leave the end of time and re-enter the end of time after every unlock.
No it's not. you do not need any inert stones, you can throw them away or sell them as soon as you get them, they do nothing. The only thing that matters is how many rooms are unlocked.
Pro tip - if you find yourself short on unlocked rooms, using a blood stone will turn it into a star stone, which will instantly become inert and unlock a room.
Your Homestead isn't under attack?
Success
One event and quest will block and delay the mechanism of portals in Homestead, it's Homestead Attack that you need achieve to unlock opening or portals in Homestead. Another important point is you must not only open portals in Homestead but also visit each at least once.
EDIT: The last portal opened in Homestead is the Chapel. So if you have visit it in Homestead then you are good for the final.
You can also break the door if you have a lot of patience, ctrl click the door, never tried but it seems using a Tenebrium Crossbow will allow do it faster because Tenebrium will do more damages and Crossbow will exploit a game glitch allowing chain very fast Crossbow attacks in exploration mode.
When your homestead came under attack the imp came to you and talked to you. Since you probably skimmed that, you might not know where to go. these spoilers tell you how to solve that. i've done them all as separate mouseovers so you can only spoil as much as you want
Location to go to: Northwest of lucilla forest (past the sandstorms and goblin village, talking far corner)
What to do: sneak or run past the invincible demons and get to the crystal, then destroy it using a tenebrium weapon. Elemental damage heals it, and normal damage does nothing, so it should be a weapon that has tenebrium damage, can have normal, but doesn't have elemental damage.
easy ways to do it: The far left path, where you pass through two camps of immaculates, just has a very easy to sneak through group of dogs. detach one person, sneak them through the dogs (even with 0 sneak it's easy), then kill the crystal with no one the wiser.
Alternatively, use tornado to clear the lava on the far right for another easy path.
