Killed Icara and Zixzax at level 13 on Hard difficulty. SPOILERS
So not here to brag, just to let anyone who might be curious know how I did it.

I was about to stop playing the game, but thought I'd give it a try. I didn't fight them together, I had to split them up because it seemed impossible if I didnt.

Firstly, level 20 ornate chests. They seem invulnerable. But they can be carried in your inventory. I collect them, and use them to block things. I blocked off both Icara and Zixzax to isolate them and prevent them moving around.

On hard difficulty it is harder to hit enemies it would seem. Zixzax turns out to be level 26, which I only discovered by getting his hp low enough - level 13 vs level 26 is gonna be hard to hit.

Both my characters are Lone Wolf from level 1, and the mage has Glass Cannon.

Firstly Icara...
Her repeated damaging skill is the rapid fire ice shards, followed up with a few staff jabs. All you need for that is frost resist. Use water shield and/or absorb elements in addition to frost resist, and it will heal you instead of harm you.
Now she isnt damaging you, you need to be able to damage her. My favourites are Teleportation (the damaging one that throws them down) and Vampiric Touch (guaranteed hit, great damage when Oath of Desecration active). When those are on cooldown, just use whatever fire, poison or air/shock abilities you have, just be mindful of being too close yourself.
Also, both of the hydro heals.

That was with my mage, but I also had a 2 hand melee. He needed Bless constantly (cast by the mage) in order to hit, and he still missed most of the time. He had 5 Man at Arms and every skill available at that level for it. He used any ability except Whirlwind and Dust Devil whenever they were off cooldown.

The thing about both Icara and Zixzax is that status like Stunned, Blind, Knockdown are possible but I never successfully did any against them. They would stun themselves sometimes but thats about it. So even though I could damage them with Crushing Fist, it never knocked them down.

So anyway, Icara is pretty easy once you stack frost resist and then just wear her down with guaranteed hit mage and melee abilities. Just keep yourself buffed and healed and its cake.

Secondly Zixzax...
He is much harder than Icara. He has all sorts of spells with different damage types. A good range of resists is a must.
Essential for the fight are Bless (if you have a melee), Purifying Fire (will purge his heal), various resistance shields, Absorb the Elements, both hydro heals. He moves around a lot so trapping him with chests helps.
I wore him down with Teleportation, Vampiric Touch, Man at Arms abilities. Every round I would hit him with 2 damaging abilities with my mage, and with the remainder do buffs, shields and heals. Sometimes I had to spend all action points on buffs, heals and shields when in danger.
I had to resurrect the mage a couple of times (Glass Cannon dies quick). But after I got in the groove it was fine.
The only thing odd was towards the end of the fight he'd sometimes do nothing each round, even though he was not stunned. Then the following round he'd blast away at my mage, almost killing her.

What happens when you kill Icara? spoiler
She dies. Shes a corpse and idk what the ramifications on the story quest are if you do.

What happens when you kill Zixzax? spoiler
He disappears in a puff of smoke, then reappears immediately. When you question him about "didnt i just kill you?" he laughs and responds that its not possible to kill him. When asked about Icara's death he says he isnt sure what affect it will have.

I tried this too and it was very hard. I had trouble killing them at L15. The hardest part for me was surviving the first round because they all go before you and they can do some serious damage.

Mostly frost/frozen, fire/burning and some lightning/stuns.

You can easily blind them if you drain their willpower first. After that, you can just smack them with your fighters.

I killed her at level 14, water shield scrolls and a crapload of arrows, she seemed to focus solely on my healer and since she does ice attacks i just water shielded her up and let her tank while the rest pelted her with arrows(stat lowering and fire mostly) and fire magic.

I imagine that if you kill Icara you can't by-pass the fight with her sister later so it goes from being optional (if you do the associated quest to rebuild the soul forge) to mandatory. But that is just a guess.
