New loot rarity? Orange and Uniques

Was I just unlucky previously having only ever found Blue and Green items?
I just got 2 Orange drops and 1 Unique item (kinda tan color) drop off the lighthouse boss.

1st Orange:
Draconian Amulet of the Sage
Strength +1
Dex +1
Int +1
Lore +1
Shadow resistance +10%

2nd Orange:
Silencing Push Dagger of Celerity
33-55
3 action x2 crit +4% chance move +0.34
+1 speed
+1 water elementalist
+26 hp
15% chance silence 3 turns

I like both of those!

The unique is:
Clobbering Time 1-handed club
38-52
3 action x1.5 crit
Single Handed +1
15% chance knockdown for 2 turns

Meh on the unique since I have nobody using 1 handed str weapons.

Is this part of the new loot matrix or was just unlucky in all my previous playtime?

Probably the new loot stuff, although Clobbering Time has been in the game for a while, and is always dropped by the Lighthouse boss.

The release notes on the last patch said they'd altered the "loot generation matrix" or something liek that to drop better more varied stuff. So it's probably that.

Orange sounds new. AFAIK Uniques were white in the previous version, so they probably just added it's proper color.

Wow...I can only wonder what the blue axe I found would be like if it'd be orange/unique. It does like 63-140 damage(1hander) and has +1 fire elementalist(or whatever its called)
I was level 3 when I found it, required 4 lore to ID it(Thankfully, there was an npc that could ID that baby)
I found it in a vase right next to the weaver.

The orc armor is also unique now, and it, clobbering time and several other items can no longer be traded to vendors as a result. I'm guessing this was put in to protect quest items from getting lost, but its annoying to get a vendor "insulted" b/c of an item in trade window.
