First, it's a timed mission, so do it quick or the boat will sink!

Second: if you draw your weapon (or spell) and hold Ctrl, you'll be able to attack barrels and such. Or you can just forget the barrel and smother the flames with magic...

You can find a rain scroll near the beginning of the game, cast it near the boat.

try throwing water barrels at it 8D

Loading a save crashes the game to desktop? I thought most of those bugs had been fixed? When you save, do you get an error message along the lines of "saving to levelcache failed - please report this"?

You could try validating your game files and see if that helps with the saved game problem.

Does that work too !? Thought only Rain can work.

I placed water barrels on the boat then attacked them. The water either got dispensed on the dock or into the water. None of the water appeared on the boat. Is this a bug?

Possibly, but I think it's more likely that the boat is not a place where surfaces are permitted to exist (which may be a bug, or just something that they didn't bother to implement because it wasn't needed or it was too complicated.)

The rain scroll may be the only solution.

I hope they implement the water barrel solution given that it is a pretty good way to solve it.

Same here -- I was really excited when I found the water barrel right next to the burning boat. I was sure the devs put it there on purpose.

If using the water barrel is not a solution, then I suggest not allowing the user to place the barrel on the boat. It definitely seems buggy since the outcome does not follow expectations.

I thought the villagers already are saying 'it takes more than a few buckets' or something of the sort. That should imply it shouldn't work.

Just noticed that, in the beta, the water barrels near the burning boat are now gone. Hopefully this will not longer confuse players that it may be a solution. Thank you, devs, for listening to our meager discussions on this forum! You're awesome.

It really is too bad there isn't more than one solution to this particular quest. I think chances are fairly high that most *new* players will have used that rain scroll prior to arriving at the ship, especially now that a tutorial dungeon exists between them and the docks.

If a player has enough strength to toss water barrels at the boat, then let them put the fire out that way.

I agree with you Gyson. Only allowing the rain scroll also breaks the mantra of having multiple solutions to each problem. But as Stabbey mentioned earlier, the boat might not be a "surface" object so might take some more work on the devs part to address. Removing the adjacent water barrels is not an ideal fix to the problem but I'm fine with this for now. I'm just giddy to know that they listened to our discussion and attempted to address the problem.

For me the boat is now destroyed by the time I get to it. I reloaded a save from before the Beach fight with the orc shaman and I ran straight to the boat after talking to Arhu and it was still already burned. Pablo yells "Fire Fire" but too late.
Gyson Apr 3, 2014 @ 9:29am
That sounds like a bug. It should be on fire, but not completely destroyed if you're running straight there from the gate.
