Not all items highlight when holding Alt
I've noticed some items don't get highlighted when I hold Alt, such as the shells in the beginning of the game. Is this intended or is it a bug?

That's been bugging me too..

Long discussion - it's intended because we don't want to show you secret keys or buttons with the alt key, and we also don't want to show you every single object you can interact with like forks, knives, plates etc... But clearly it's bothering some people so we'll need to think about it

Yeah, I don't know of a good fix for this issue. It is troublesome to use ALT and to see some items, but then walk past some other ones that didn't show. On the other hand, I do NOT want my screen filled with all items that can be obtained. That would be like looking at a screen of haboo hotel or something with old style chat bubbles. You wouldn't be able to see the screen in a city location at all, especially in a house or market area.

** Maybe put a choice for "Highlight All Objects" in the options for people to use if they want to, and all others can use it the way it currently is?

Keep up the great work Larians! The latest update was splendid.

Yes, I'm second for menu options. I do not want to see secret items, but I do want to see other interactive objects (it can be just highlight without showing a name). And I want to see NPC names, sometimes I just can't find them among other things (yes, I'm blind :).

I like the idea of highlighting some objects instead of showing the name.
Yes, I'm used to the alt key not showing everything from the prior games. But an option in the menu for those who want that function is in my opinion the best solution.
So can those who want to play in classic mode do that, and those that want console mode do that.

P.S.: Just joking on that last sentencefor the most part... :P

While I'm fairly familiar with the interactivity of the Divinity games. I was surprised by some of the objects in this one. Like the shells on the beach in the beginning or the bone pile. I would have had no idea that they were usable if I hadn't accidently moused over them as I was clicking around to move haha It's a great idea to keep the secret keys and such hidden but I feel like the highlight function needs to be tweaked just a bit. Other than that I am loving the game so far! :D

for me it's ok..as long as crafting items/weapons/armor are highlighted it's ok

ya it bugs me as well... like atleast to have the option to make alt highlight everything
HardstyleTaco Feb 24, 2014 @ 8:52am
What if there were different keys for different item highlights? Like armor and weapons uses the default ALT key, but other items uses a different key?

I agree on the not showing us secret interactions, but how about an option to highlight all the small things, it really gives that diablo feel when you press alt and a ton of things are highlighted(minus secrets)

Taco, you beat me to it. I second this. ALT key for loot, some other key for non-secret "miscellanious" items.

It should be toggle too, so u tap alt to see them and tap again to stop... holding it... #effort xD
KevVv2 Feb 24, 2014 @ 4:21pm
Toggle sucks... would have to press a button 2 times.. #lazy
Holding it 1 or 2 sec is much easier...

But having 2 keys for showing items?!
That's also too much. 1 Key is just fine.

And not showing all of the useable items is pretty cool.
makes people not rush trough the game holding ALT all the time.

I for one like the idea of discovery, not that I've discovered all that much! Moving a mouse over an object you're curious about isn't a big tricky affair or anything.
