Bipolar NPCs
Vendor: Welcome! Here's a list of my wares.
Me: Ooh. Nice staff. How much for it?
Vendor: That staff is 457 gold.
Me: That sounds fair. Here you go. 457 gold.
Vendor: Your offer insults me!

And then their attitude drops towards me.

This is a pretty annoying bug. I've run into it several times. At first, I experienced it with Esmerelda, and I had already confronted her about some evidence, so I thought nothing of it. I just kept offering more for the item. She kept getting pissed.

But I've run into this several other times. Sometimes, it seemed to only do it when combining items and gold to trade, or when trading for multiple items. Loading and paying just gold for one item at a time seemed to work ok.

But now I just ran into this at the beginning of the game. Arhu comes out and has a low level staff with 3 to charm quality, and I tried to buy it, and he give me that bipolar stuff.

I've had the same issues, not sure if intended or not yet.

That's not intentional, it's a bug. I wonder - did either of you have points into the Haggle/Barter skill?

I know it's not intentional. And no, I have no barter skill, or even a personality trait which affects it.

I'm sure it's just poor programming and another issue that we'll need to chalk up to alpha.

The last instance, it didn't even matter, because that save was no good. Arhu had all dialogue options from the get-go, so none of the quests involving him could be advanced.
