What do I do with tenebrium?
So my friend and I have been trying to slog through the game and haven't played in months. Just started back up again and I think we're halfway through the game. We just unlocked the trader's emporium and armoury but I'm confused as to what the hell I'm supposed to do with tenebrium ore and now I have overencumbered myself with 24 ore because I know its flipping important. I've been googling everywhere but cant find anything on how to do it. all I know is that I can buff my weapons with it.

You can smelt it into bars or craft with the ore (branch) or bars (weapons).

One piece of tenebrium ore is required for a quest in Silverglen (Brandon), which you may have already completed if you can safely handle tenebrium. If you don't have the Tenebrium ability yet, leave the ore in the blood stone cage.

So, what is all this talk about empowering non tenebrium weapons with tenebrium then? I hate how utterly confusing and tedious this game is. So much potential and I guess it's a great throwback to old RPGs but having no in-game means to figure most stuff out is just extremely frustrating.

With level 3 Tenebrium, drag a tenebrium bar to a weapon to add tenebrium damage (you can only have one extra type of damage on a weapon). You need Blacksmithing 4 to smelt tenebrium ore into bars.

I should note that there's a bug that lets you enhance a weapon with a Tenebrium bar with only 1 point in the tenebrium ability. Instead of dragging the bar onto the weapon, drag the weapon on the bar. For a long time, Jahan only had the 1 point in the ability from the quest, and still got to enhance my weapons with impunity. :D

You can also purchase weapons made completely of tenebrium from certain vendors (and/or find them), but you cannot craft them yourself (only enhance). They're better than standard fare of their level, but you may be able to craft better. Thus far, with Blacksmithing and Crafting at level 5, the weapons I craft and enhance myself beat out anything I can buy and usually anything I can find... So you don't need to go shop hunting.

There are a few excellent crafting guides out there. I can post the one I use when I get home and have access to my bookmarks.

That's greatly appreciated! thank you both for the info and I'm definitely interested in the crafting guide.

Here's the guide I use:

The other ones I've found provide less information about the actual stats of items. But this one tells you the levels at which things like a fire essence give a larger bonus, which is very helpful.
