how to equip spells?

im about to hit level 8 on all characters and i still havent figured out how to equip new spells. I open the menu with k and hit use and it uses the spell but doesnt put it in the hotbar. What simple thing am i missing?

Drag the skill icon to a slot on your skill bar. You can also drag an icon between slots (use r and f to switch skill bars) or drag it off the skill bar to remove (note that dragging a scroll or potion, etc, off the skill bar will drop the item, in addition to removing the shortcut on the skill bar).

On the action bars, you can also quickly toggle between action bars using the "F" and "R" keys, "F" toggles down as in action bar; 1, 2, 3, etc..etc. and "R" revereses direction; as in action bar 3, 2, 1, and then back to action bar 5.

Thanks for all of the help guys, i figured it out on my own a minute later. I cant believe i didnt figure that out.

On this topic (vaguely, anyway) is there a mod that adds action bars to the screen? The toggle is great, but it would be good to just have enough bars on the screen to be able to use spells, abilities, potions and scrolls at one time as opposed to toggling hot bars back and forth.
