How do you use jeweller's kit:ring ??

i've tried using it on everything including a basic ring and it doesn't do anything.. what am I missing?

I know you can combine it with some things, though exactly what I haven't tested. I'd try combining it with any gemlike item, such as a ruby, machalite, pearl, moonstone, etc.

No need to unlock a recipe. They always work.

They are just collected for convenience, so you don't have to keep all the books.

Correct, as long as you have enough points in Crafting, you can make anything that you have materials for.

Hmmm... I haven't tried this myself, but does Pixie Dust work?

Mortar & Pestle + Bone/Skull = Bone Dust
Mortar & Pestle + Stardust Herb = Stardust Powder
Bone Dust + Stardust Powder = Pixie Dust

Pixie Dust seems to be the standard "Make this magic" powder.

pixie dust, malachite, pearls, diamonds, rubies, non-magic rings - i've tried combining each one of these with the jeweller kit without success. I also didn't get the "You don't have enough crafting" message either so that's not the issue. I have 6 crafting btw.

Ok.... maybe later I'll finish fixing the formatting... should be able to figure it out. If you search the Larian website forums you will find a crafting recipe thread and in it is a post with a link to a public exel file with all known recipes.

Heya, when I created the crafting excel file (based on a txt file found in the regular game files, as well as forum comments) I did it back in alpha. If there are any changes, I have not yet updated it. So, I think things like the jewelry kit was not available at the time. The file is still a good starting point though. You can always check the main txt file found somewhere in \Divinity - Original Sin\Data\Public\Main\Stats\ItemCombos.txt if you like...

edit: oh, sorry, just checked and the file is missing from beta. :(

They moved most of the files inside packages (Main.pak, Textures.pak), including the item combos txt.

I've been trying to put off playing too much before the release date, so forgot about checking on the files. I figured things would be changing anyways and wanted to do a clean update on the file with the "final info" so to speak. Looks like that will be awhile before I figure out how to look at the files, that is, if possible. Otherwise, if someone else more ambitious would like to do it, that'd be great too!

At level 7, I did a Chicken foot + Pixie Dust => (Magic) Chicken Foot' + Rope = A belt with nothing on it except +1 initiative that I would only wear if there was nothing but an empty slot. After all the waiting and discovery I really hope the rest of the craft items are at least marginally better.
