Things to consider when respeccing a mage
Hi all, I just screwed up a bit respeccing my mage (after overwriting my save, I realized this...) so I thought I'd pass along my lessons learned.

1 - Moloch trades Talents for abilities - which is great on a mage since most talents are mediocre on mages, but abilities are very useful (5 points in any school of magic is great - unlimitted spells). He trades 10 ability points for 1 talent, and 1 attribute for 5 abilities. So you can really get a lot of abilities maxed if you don't care about talents.

2 - Moloch can respec you again if you screw up, but if you made those trades, they're stuck. So if, say you left yourself with only 2 talents, then you're stuck with 2 talents after respeccing.

3 - Pet Pal is a very important talent. Don't forget to take it and keep it (on at least one char) when you respec!

4 - you lose all your spells on respec, so make sure not to delete your save, or you'll spend a lot of money buying skill books.

1 - I do believe I can find 7 useful talents for mages, though by that time it would be like beating a dead horse anyway. As for morethan a couple lvl 5 magic schools...well let's just say my bars are already beyond capacity.

3 - The most useless talent you could ever take, despite what everyone seems to think. I got like 20k exp, the location of a secret, and the answer to one puzzle that wasn't easily deciphered in a way that didn't require Google or a Talent point. Sure some rats give you extremely vague clues on puzzles, but not enough to make it worth the talent point.

4 - This does suck, especially on mages.

yeah, I used them for maxing out charisma, bartering, pyro and air, and then getting a bit of earth and water and defense. Also a few extra points in constitution/speed to go along with glass cannon.

honestly, the other traits aren't comparing to being able to buy/sell things at nearly cost. I do wish I still had a point to spend on the extended spell range talent though (wound up using it for pet pal). I do find pet pal useful, btw...I guess if you get info from the internet, it's not that amazing...but that pulls you out of the game too. Pet pal adds some flavor that I really like.

#4 is far far far worse for rogues and warriors though. Even if there are spells you can't normally buy (I haven't seen any yet) you can find scrolls and make the damned books for them. Warriors and rogues are SOL on certain abilities like whirlwind.

Yeah, Pet Pal gives us like 4 quests through entire game:D Worth it totally

Yeah I agree Petpal not really all that worth it, so far only used it for two quest.
