Unlock spell. Seems rare to find.

Destroy them with a Tenebrium weapon. That's what I did anyway, having at that point only found 1 unlock scroll, and then only two more by the time I finished the game. It can take a little while, but if you can, I'd suggest using a crossbow. Why? It will fire as fast as you can click the mouse button. Combined with Oath of Desecration from Witchcraft, probably takes me about 2-3 minutes to break one. About ten minutes with a Tenebrium Scythe and Oath.

I bet there is an Unlock skillbook somewhere in the game.

Hmm, kinda sucks. 50-100 damage and chest has 54k hp. Did you get anything worthy?

Thanks!

I got a legendary in each one, Loremaster 5 required to ID them, but as with all random loot, they weren't better than what I had.

Unlock spells are pretty easy to make actually. You need magic quill and feather and a blank witchcraft scroll. Combine them with a character with 2 crafting points and you have around a 15-20% chance of getting an Unlock spell.
magic quill and feather = quill and feather + pixie dust
quill and feather = quill + feather
blank witchcraft scroll = any paper, note or patchment + pixie dust
pixie dust = stardust + bonedust
bonedust = any bone or skull + mortar
stardust = stardust herb + mortar

My jahan has craft 5 and i made of 30 scrolls and none of them were any unlock skill...i don't think its s 20% skill...but i believe it might have any slight minimal ultra rare chance of getting that unlock scroll because many people say it is possible.

Granted I was looking at the EE crafting tables, but I believe that the higher the rank, up to 5, the more possible spells there are to be crafted, which is why I think Demian said...

My understanding is that with a smaller potential spell pool the odds of getting the unlock ones are actually higher.

Ok, I just want to re-confirm Demian's tip. I just save-scummed a bit to figure some things out. I had 17 Blank Witchcraft scrolls to write into spells. With my main crafter in his gear he is at Crafting level 6. Essentially, I made around 70 scrolls. Not a single magical unlock. Reloading and swapping all the crafting mats to a character with only level 2 in Crafting and I only crafted 6 scrolls. One Resurrect scroll, one Malediciton, and 4 Unlocks.

Again, my experience is with the EE (but I came across this on Google while searching for the chests, myself), so I'm not sure how much, if at all, rates were adjusted... but it seems pretty reliable to me.

I know three ways for opening treasure chests. Either a key has to be found elsewhere and hopefully when coming back to the chest, it opens.

If not, combining two needles together makes up a lockpick. With a lockpick, opening a chest always worked so far.

Last solution: striking the chest with all the offensive skills, because if weapons are used a lot to destroy the chest and open it, the weapons will be damaged and it will be necessary to repair the weapons afterwards.

If the chest is level 5 or 10, it's possible to break it. If it is level 20, I heard it can have like 500 000 health points so it would take forever so in that case, it's better to leave it if there is no lockpick nor the corresponding key.
We're talking about very specific chests in the Homestead that have magical locks on them and are impossible to lockpick or break open and don't have keys nearby.

I just relied on spamming quickload to craft them, obviously this wont work in honor mode so you just have to get crafting early and be on the lookout for the necessary mats and hope for the best. There's no skillbook and one can't be made, and as far as I've seen there are only 2 naturally occurring unlock scrolls in the game and most new players will waste or sell the first one since they will likely acquire it long before they see the first instance of a magically locked chest.
