What types of gear boost crafting and blacksmith?
I'm trying to plan out a build for my crafting character and rather than invest too many points in, it'd be nice to know what different types of gear I can have on at a single time to boost both skills up and eventually reach 5. So far I decided to add 1 to each skill and place on the scientist talent to give myself +2 in both, but would any recommend anything else? Or would avoiding scientist and just leaving both stats at +1 be better?

Wrists and Belt for sure, not really remember if there was Rings/Amulets (i think nope)
You can get at last +2 BS/cr and +3 Lore with items.

Only 2 item types provide a bonus to Crafting and Blacksmithing - braces and belt. So if you want to reach level 5 in those skills you will have to spend at least 2 points in each (2 from skill points + 1 from Scientist + 2 from gear = 5).

By the way, would each bracer or belt boost both skills or does each piece of gear only increase one of them? Let's say I find a belt, can that belt possibly have +1 in both blacksmith and crafting or only +1 in one of those skills or the other?

Not sure, but even if the boost can be higher than +1 you won't be seeing such items generated by the game until you character is pretty high level himself. So if you want to craft the gear with maximum efficiency as early in the game as possible you will have to spend those 2 skill points on crafting skills anyway.

The pragmatic tratit also gives you +1 craft point. So you would have to spend 1 less skill point to reach the max lvl.

Thats if you want to put crafting on your main dudes though. As followers don't benefit from the dialogue traits.
