Not against the rules, you can use a trainer if you like, at least for Single player. If the game uses Steam's servers for the MP, then it may be against the rules. Also, this game is DRM free on Steam, so you can also play the game without even having Steam running.
Whos gna stop you, I would really recomend giving easy a go if you want the game to progress faster. Its a shame to ruin your own gaming experience by cheat that potentially will make the game way to easy and forgetful.
I love cheats too. Cheats in GTA and Duke Nukem 3D were awesome. Wish more games nowadays have cheats.
And i don't only mean like "godmode" cheats that trainers offer. - Trainers are lame. I mean goofy cheats like in GTA - Spawn vehicles, get all weapons. Fun mayhem!
Or no clipping cheats in Duke. Noclipping lets you run through solid objects.
No harm cheating in singleplayer games.
EDIT: I can forgive RPGs for not having cheats tho. The fact that you can mod all kinds of goofy ♥♥♥♥ into them makes up for it.
