Larian, please consider uncensoring "sexy" armor.
I realize that the changes to the armor designs for the female characters was the result of the 200+ post thread during early access (we all know which one). However, I think the compromise has backfired and what we get instead are some badly censored armor designs that probably please even fewer people.

Here is a current armor design in the game:

Censored Leather Armor Design[i.imgur.com]

Here is what it should actually look like:

Original Leather Armor Design[i.imgur.com]

Those of you unaware of the censoring, after looking at the first then the second, the design of the armor suddenly makes more sense doesn't it?

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised is the original design didn't even have the straps over the bra but that would probably be overdoing it. I'm pretty sure these random layers of color were added later because I was in early access and I don't recall all the armor looking this terrible.

I would even venture to guess that those who wanted less "sexy" armors would agree that the original (with a little bit of skin showing) looks better than a (sorry) half-♥♥♥♥♥ censored design. If Larian had redesigned the armors from scratch, even that would have been better...but editing the armors quickly just to appease the vocal minority has left all of us with crappier armor designs.

Option 1: I suppose there are some people already used to the new armor designs and even some who might even like them. Larian already did the work for both designs...edited and original, so in option one, can Larian simply allow the user to choose?

Option 2: Point out where the armors are in the files and let the users mod the armors back the way they should be.

Thanks for reading.

IMPORTANT UPDATE (as of 28 comments)

It's important to note that the second image (the one I describe as the "original") is actually edited. Specifically, I took two screenshots, one with the character in her bikini and one in that armor then overlaid them and erased the "colored cloth" bits to reveal skin. This was not an intentional deception but I did forget to mention it. When I look at the armor in the first image, it seems very clear to me that the colored parts were added later and I was attempting to depict that.

That said, I wasn't completely making stuff up. I was basing it on what I knew from the armor in pre-release. Here is an image of the original armor that Scarlett wore during one point in Early Access (I think she looks great, BTW):

The Source of all the Hubbub[i.imgur.com]

I believe that armor was the source of all the hullabaloo...the brouhaha, if you will. It's entirely possible that the armor in the very first pic I linked was designed that way from the get-go, but I really doubt it. I just wanted to make sure everyone knew that the second image was my best guess. Those of you playing with at least one female PC, I'm sure you've noticed the weirdness in the design of the armors too.

P.S. If you look up the censoring in Tera and Blade & Soul, I think we can agree that the tell tale signs are very similar.

(Edited: Confusing Topic Title, added one sentence after image links, added Important Update.)

So sad, I wish companies would just make a game with the art and style they like best and not be swayed by .1% of the people that will actually buy the game.
Sexy armor should be for everyone. Women gamers get to watch their men topless and full of rippling muscles.

Men gamers get to watch their women jiggle and bend to their hearts' content.

There. Full equality. Everyone wins.

If either side starts complaining, they have the option to turn sexy armor off for the opposite gender, or their own gender, or all genders for a more realistic experience.

I would welcome this if it ever existed.

Don't worry gender mainstreaming is on its dying breaths as the old generation begins to slowly die and we can soon have freedom back (:

Freedom from free drinks, meals, houses, money, attention?

Must be horrible.

Having to choose between getting whatever you want or Big Macs, I can see why women cant stand it.

Surely with gender equality people will stop judging other people's looks or sexualizing them.

Couple of points:

1. The "In 1600 they started to" post, well this ain't 1600 and you can't see so many firearms (agree loads of rapiers and pointy weapons) you should relate this kind of fantasy to a previous real era.

2. "300 the movie did it right" post, nope it didn't, spartiati (the actual 300ish were spartiati the rest, thousands, were servants or fighters from other cities) were not some sort of barbarians goin around chest naked, they were the upper class in Sparta and sported "pretty heavy" (and efficient) armors and weapons, unlike their servants and the majority of the Persian army.

3. Have to agree with OP the editing to appease the "puritans" wasn't very good, I'm one of the guys who like his warrior, male of female that it is, to be heavily armored (not with some yellow pullover) and scouts/rogues to be dressed properly, which doesn't mean 1/2 naked (you know cloth, silk, light leather work good) but not even wearing something that can make you go blind if you look at it.

EDIT: Dammit thou you could rob someone blind, that gives an whole new meaning for the colors! :D

This issue is long argued and done. Mod it if you want it different.

It's going to have to be, but that doesn't mean people can't express their disappointment or opinions in general toward the matter.

Some of these posts have gone off on an tangent, including some of my own. My original point was that while the gender equality folks could have a point, Larian's dealing with the issue was less than desirable. From a purely aesthetic point of view (not a "what is realistic as armor" one), most can agree that the "fix" was not executed well.
This is what my character looks like as of now, which looks a lot like the uncensored pic from the OP.

They have been. In fact, they have been bemoaning the issue since the begining of the Kickstarter campaign when it was changed over a year ago. The game is released, the mod tools are available. I think we are past the complaining stage and on to the "if you or someone else hasn't changed it, then you don't care as much as you complain". /shrug

Since when have nude mods ever required the cooperation of the developer?

Yeap. It did. It's a known fact that mobility was important for them. Heavy armor makes you slow and clumsy.

The point remains: Sexualising men seems to be OK but a woman showing a belly button is the biggest sin of all.
Someone seriously needs to start a menism movement.

I want censored male characters!

Maybe the later armors are unchanged or better designed...that'd be a nice surprise.

Yeah... not

Spartans, just like most of the greek cities used the same kind of attire.

Soldiers used helmets, a chest piece, pants, leather skirts, etc

The red cape (which in real life wasnt long and clumsy) was used for moral puposes, as a man bleeding with a red cape wasnt a shocking as one without it, thefor less moral impact when your camarade is pelted by arrows or sliced away.

Far from the r.etarded leather underpants hulks that "300" used.

Making silly armors for men or women is silly in either way, and the "but this game contains magic, its not realistic" argument is silly, as one could say "why arent unicorns ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nukes from the sky?" The aswer would be the same, concistency.

Its the same reason as to why i also prefer to download nude mods for the raiders in fallout NV, because censoring (in that case, silly magic pijamas) can be as bad as stupid "revealing armor"

I'm heartily SICK AND TIRED of the minority constantly ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around in the business of the majority.... Don't like it? .. away you go and sit in the corner til I've finished having fun.

The next game that so brazenly panders to the minority like this I won't be buying.. regardless of what it is..... GET BACK ON TRACK BY SERVING THE MAJORITY.

... are you serious?

Please tell me you are joking.
Pandering to minority is harmful to your vision and pandering to majority will transform your game to Ubisoft and Activision crap...
Larian doesn't need to listen to anybody. They are creators and if you liked their product - you'll buy it. But sadly they listened to complainers (I bet half of them don't even bought the game) and censored female armors. Hell, at one point they even discussed removal of high hells, because of some idiots on the forum...
Sorry for my terrible English :deadsheep:
