How to open Black Ominous Gate [solved]
Typically I find it out on my own or google my way to a solution, but I'm stuck with this door in the Black Cove. I've killed the boss pirate, enabled all 13 levers, talked to the girl/father ghost ending up reuniting them, etc, but I've yet to find the key to the Black Omnious Gate where orcs and skeletons fight each other.

Some of the google results suggest that there's a key in the pirate office (with the lever, painting, mounted animal head) next to the stack of books, but with at least 6 (8 buffed) perception, I've not been able to see it. I've spent hours walking around this place searching for hidden stuff, blasting any barrels, etc.

I found one hidden switch behind the painting in the pirate office, and one in the trap house (on the floor, not the one to disable the traps).

Could it be bugged?

Some more info, I've not gotten any quests from Samson (the ghost at the lighthouse) which afaik should play a role within the Black Cove (he just tells me his story)..

key should be by the pirate ship somewhere

To open a Omnious Gate you need special key it is after Skull gate in Black Cove , search east part of main pltform with switches , behind the bush to open it ;)

So I've been going over the east part of the platform (with all the switches) really well, and I've done the same with the area behind the gate (were I was fighting the pirate captain, found the gem on his ship etc). I just don't see it. Either it's not being revealed because 6 (8 buffed) perception is not enough, or there's a bug. Or... I'm extremely blind..

Would you be able to tell me the coords? or screenshot the area you found it?
Ok spoilers here: After the fight with Pontius on the beach make sure you hit the alt key and have a look about. Alt key is your friend. Hit it after every fight.

I did not spend 3 hours down here without knowing about the alt key. My party has been on any tile (including the slightly hidden chest at [478,179]). I'm pretty thorough and typically don't ask for help unless I've done my homework first hand. (Though, you could not know that, but I have a feeling that you did not read much of my post, tombeatster).

So I had a look at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNo6SG_G05g and I see the key drop at the end of the video. It never dropped for me, or it must have been destroyedby aoe blasts during the fight, though I don't think items can be destroyed that way.

I'm fairly confident that the key has not dropped due to a bug.

You might have picked it up, make sure you're trying to open the door with every character. It only works for the character carrying the key.

Oh god.. The key was looted on one of the henchmen in my party. By sending it to one of my PCs, the gate will now open. I should have checked the henchman inventories earlier. It is weird that the gate wouldn't open when they had the key (when following in party).

Ya that's what I thought, pretty typical mistake lol

Yup, you're correct! To be honest, it's a little silly that doors only open to the one carrying the key in a party, though I guess it's due to how the party mechanics work in this game. Not a big issue when knowing about it.

Also, thanks for the replies guys, appreciate it!

That was needlessly nasty. Given you don't mention that you're aware of the alt key in your post, which I did read by the way, what am I supposed to do? Read your mind? I'll keep you in mind as a guy never to try to help again.

Maybe it was a little bit uncalled for, I was a little frustrated at that time. But you're kind of proving my point by not reading what I wrote (again). I said that I was indeed familiar with the ALT key, and given my OP context, this should have been your assumption as well. If I completed everything else, including the ghosts, chances that I had figured it out without knowing about the ALT key is slim.

Now, you did try to help in the best way you could, and I appreciate that. So if it makes it better, I'm at least sorry if I was lashing out at you.

Maybe it's a language barrier thing but this basically means that I did indeed know about the ALT key.
