In case of the surface kind, the poison will simply be some ooze lying on the ground, instead in the case of the air above the ground,it'll look like a cloud.
If you have poison on the ground and anything ablaze touches it, then the ooze will be consumed creating an explosion AND creating a poison cloud.
However, since the poison cloud then exists,it'll explode too and consume itself.
Thus, combining a poisoned surface with a fiery entity will create two fiery explosion and one poison tick (rarely two).
i know how they interact at a basic level, im trying to understand why there seems to be a random chance that when the zombie explodes it only hurts itself, or it does area effect, what is causing this?
EDIT: scholar, how does this interaction work with zombie creatures that are burning? that seems to be the issue im having the most
When zombie getting hurt he splatter poison, if you burn it - yes it will be aoe.
Therefore, shooting a zombie or anything that bleeds poison with a fire arrow or anything that both does fire damage as well as makes them bleed (so fireballs won't work unless there is already poison on the ground, because fireballs don't cause them to bleed also - and I don't mean bleed effect, I just mean they spill blood when hit with weapons, not magic) will cause both an explosion and put fire on the ground.
When a fiery zombie will run into poison, it'll create an explosion which will damage anyone nearby.
For instance,if two fiery zombies close to each other get poisoned, they'll likely instakill each other.
Why? because the explosions will hurt both, such each other's poison spit will trigger another explosion.
Oh and poison traps create poison clouds.
