how does poison and fire interact in combat?
i cant figure out why sometimes, when i hit a zombie and it explodes cause its on fire, it damages people around it and other times it damages nobody but it, what is going on and what am i missing about this?

Yes. Try firing a fireball into a cloud of poison or at a poison barrel? It causes an explosion that does damage like using lightning on someone who is effected with "wet".
Depends whether the zombie is 'bleeding' first or not.
Poison + fire = explosions. Zombies spew poison when they get damaged, because they heal from poison. So if you shoot fire at em, they go KABOOM! Pretty much being suicidal.
Fire will turn poison ground into gas, an additional fire source added to the posion gas will detonate it, so a burning zombie standing in fire when hit will bleed poison, poison splashes the burning ground, turns to a gas, and now we have a burning zombie in the gas, BOOM.
The system has two types of effects a piece of ground can have: surface and air.
In case of the surface kind, the poison will simply be some ooze lying on the ground, instead in the case of the air above the ground,it'll look like a cloud.

If you have poison on the ground and anything ablaze touches it, then the ooze will be consumed creating an explosion AND creating a poison cloud.
However, since the poison cloud then exists,it'll explode too and consume itself.

Thus, combining a poisoned surface with a fiery entity will create two fiery explosion and one poison tick (rarely two).

i dont think any of you read my post body

i know how they interact at a basic level, im trying to understand why there seems to be a random chance that when the zombie explodes it only hurts itself, or it does area effect, what is causing this?

EDIT: scholar, how does this interaction work with zombie creatures that are burning? that seems to be the issue im having the most

Explosion! Earth+fire and water+air.

When zombie getting hurt he splatter poison, if you burn it - yes it will be aoe.

Oh gawd. Learn elemental effects interactions. Posion cloud or ooze + fire = explosion. Water or steam cloud + electicity = aoe stun. Wet status + chilled status = freeze. Etc...

No, fire makes poison ground/puddle explode also. Any form of poison simply explodes with fire, whether it's poison cloud or poison puddle. Sometimes it just also makes "smoke".

Therefore, shooting a zombie or anything that bleeds poison with a fire arrow or anything that both does fire damage as well as makes them bleed (so fireballs won't work unless there is already poison on the ground, because fireballs don't cause them to bleed also - and I don't mean bleed effect, I just mean they spill blood when hit with weapons, not magic) will cause both an explosion and put fire on the ground.

Posion ooze does create poison cloud after exploding. But not consistently. Works half the time. Or maybe sometimes both ooze and created cloud explode one after another in rapid succession.

When a fiery zombie will run into poison, it'll create an explosion which will damage anyone nearby.

For instance,if two fiery zombies close to each other get poisoned, they'll likely instakill each other.
Why? because the explosions will hurt both, such each other's poison spit will trigger another explosion.

VERY inconsistent. The ONLY time I've seen it happen in fact is against an enemy that creates a poison cloud on death, but also bleeds poison when hit. Like the Zombie Boars have sometimes died on top of fire, and left a very small cloud over its corpse. It's a bit weird - maybe it's supposed to but it's bugged.

I think water has a chance to wash away the poison. So if you are under a rain...
Hmmm...I wonder if this means someone with the Zombie Skill takes double damage to fire attacks?

Oh and poison traps create poison clouds.
