Do you get worse loot if you destroy chests?
Or do you get better loot if you find the key/lockpick it?

the only thing that happens i think is you don't get a lucky find chance if you have points in it. other than that i don't think there is a difference

Each hit degrades your weapon. It seems to degrade by quite a lot to, a point on each strike. If you can repair stuff though, no real issue.

You might wanna switch to a throw away weapon to save durability if you plan to bash everything. In early game I just carried a few sticks or whatever to bash stuff if need be.

Good question though, I also wanted to know the answer to that.

Actually it degrades your weapon 3 points each hit on a chest. However the simple solution is to not use your main weapon and just keep a secondary one for beating down chests and doors. Although with repair skill it doesn`t really matter so long as you remember to repair before your next fight starts.

That said.... there are quite a few chests in the game with 56,000 hp and 100% resistance to all elemental and physical damage.

No. I get legendaries all the time.

Instead of carrying extra weapons for bashing, just use your skills. No durability loss.

I know about the durability loss it's in the tutorial:heart:..Thanks Ship, are you 100% sure about this?

If it's like this I feel silly upgrading Lockpicking (and it's easy to run out of Lockpicks). I assumed there was a chance of losing items if you bashed. Seems to be quite the useless skill for early game then.

You are all talking about bashing chests now...
But you are ignoring the question.
Sadly i don't have the answer for him..
I use a unique that is unbreakable, which is very handy

I have done a few tests on this in my games in the past. I have locked picked them and bashed them open. From what ive seen with the lucky find. It still proc's on the chest, vases, baskets, ect ect. If you have a pretty good lucky find. You will notice the proc chance. Now for the loot count. Its just about the same. Ive never noticed to much of a difference in the loot. Greens, Blues, OJ's all still drop. You should generaly see about 2-3 drops. So if you ask me, personal I think either one is ok to do. Being bashing open chests or lock picking them. I think it just comes down to what is more subtle. XD Lockpicking is still great to have, but if you have noticed. You can find keys for most chests and doors.

Just use the bow i know this is an old question but i had to mention how dumb everyone is for not thinking to use a crossbow so you dont lose durability. ANd yeah u never answered the question

Or use spells to break it and I know this is an even older question. To answer it however, I found a locked chest I could readily pick and beat it up until it was one hit away from breaking, then quick saved. Picked it and wrote down the contents, reloaded and broke it open. Exact same loot.

Edit: Have now done this 19 more times (stopped at an even 20) and loot's always same.
