Apparently you get a new dialogue option with Alfie when you have blood source stone in your inventory :P

Then I think you're SOL as far as healing him. You can still do this particular quest, but you just can't heal him... I think..

Maradino's Cave. It's near the Goblin totem village. There's a bloodstone there but you have one heck of a boss battle to get the stone.
