DIEDERIK, BARON OF BONES
holy crap this fight is freaking hard! granted im only level 6 but I have pretty good gear and have been able to beat most fights handily so far. But wow they have so many enemies and so much CC its crazy!!! I mean the baron, his crazy bat♥♥♥♥ wife, 2 mages, 2 archers, multiple melee attackers including 1 he summons, and a friggin court jester to boot!!! im probably missing something as well....

but yeah Im not complaining I like the challenge, I might actually have to go elsewhere and come back a little higher level, which is ok with me. Love this game

ye lol i had the trait where you cant flee, and i had to run away so i run back to town, he and his entourage follow me and ransack the town. it was funny but game breaking

I finally beat it at level 7 by staying on the stairs so all the ranged attacks missed us and using charm arrows to get that annoying jester and the other minion to help me.

What's funny is I didn't even fight him until after I beat the boss you're supposed to fight after him. Wasn't until I was finishing up my business in the Cyseal area that I finally ran across him. By then I was level 9 so I roflstomped him. Funny what just a few levels can do.

Having a summon was very useful for that fight. The Lady was killed, and the jester pretty seriously hurt, by the other archers trying to murder my disposable spiders. The Baron himself is very susceptible to blinding.

There are much harder fights coming after that one.

Just killed him. Was such a fun fight. Had to do it at lvl 7. Now its on to the Twins Bound by Fire i think its called. Whooped my ass last time.
Qiox Jul 9, 2014 @ 4:56pm
I start by laying a full strip of oil patches across the whole area in front of where they spawn before triggering the fight. Then I turn 1 I light it and most of the mobs while hang back not wanting to walk through the fire. I then teleport them out 1 at a time and beat them down.
I had two characters with teleport so I broke them off and made a "teleport relay" porting Diedrik away from his groupies past the gate where my two melee characters were.

I won that fight.

I fought him at Level 9, was a piece of cake :)

Followed Qiox's idea, stayed on the stairs and covered the whole damn thing with oil, teleported the baron to start the fight, then laid down one last patch right underneath his beskeletoned wife, where it cought fire from the candles. I only actually had to hit three of them, the rest died from fire and... suffocated in the smoke.

All at level 6.

The massive amount of ways any one fight can be approached is one of this games strongest points.

So many different ideas and they are all winners.

Awesome.

Diederik was a good fight, - I kept my party back in the courtyard on the other side of the gates and had the character who initiated the fight teleport back to the group.

The way the gates are partly closed makes a nice little choke point the enemy group has to pass through....at that point in the game I was using a lot of rain/shock combos but here I put a firefield down once they were standing around the choke point with a fire elemental in the field between them and my party...

Threw a boulder dash in there for some explosive knockdowns followed by oath of desecration'd fireball from ma witch. Blind and mute was liberally applied, if anyone made it out of the fire field they got telported or featherfalled right back into it Man good times.

I finally won on Level 5 after many attempts. Used cover to nullify archers. Was a good fight. Enjoying it.

Beat this one yesterday with only my 2 main characters surviving. It was my first attempt so I didn't know what to expect. It was a tough fight, but a fun one! I used Firefly for the first time in this battle after reading on these forums that it was under whelming....It definitely saved me. Drew a line of fire with it that melee wouldn't cross, saved my life.

If you look carefully, beside Lady Anyah's throne there is a BOX you can open, i didnt even have to quickload after the quicksave because it contained a gold (legendary) amulet that had great stats i needed!

It's all about level. I forgot about this fight, and went back for it at 12. It was kind of pathetic. Just get a level or two then do it.
